There is a 130 x 50 foot lot in city of 90,000 population located near downtown, in older subdivision areas of homes built anywhere from the 1940's to modern. I went to the tax appraisal site for the county and found that it's taxed value is $20k, and market value is the same, because a home was removed from the site. The seller purchased the lot in January 2006 and is now selling it at 79k. I believe that the seller may have purchased the lot to include the home, which had a market value BEFORE just being taxed for the lot at $35k.

Question:
What would be a fair price to offer the Seller? There are two other lots, outside the city, that are acre sized at $75k each. The costs of properties have been escallating for the last 3 yrs, and I will be - again - out of the market if the price I have to pay is over $40k...if I'm to be able to get a home. I have to build a home bc my hubby needs a disabled-friendly home for wheelchair use. This has become mandatory-to build. No choice.

I applied for a student loan through GE Money, and I did not realize just how much money it would cost me in the long run to pay it off. It's like 80,000 for 20,000. I haven't cashed the check. Is it possible to cancel the whole affair is the funds have not been officially accessed? Am I likely to have to pay the "origination fee"?

Please, I need to know!!! GRRR.. Damnn the lenders!!

Hi all I made a payment with paypal on the 27th of July for £25 and paypal sttes thst it is complete and I have had no word from the person who received it so all must be ok (?)

However I have had a letter today from the bank (dated the 1st Aug) stating that a payment failed for £25 and they will charge £39 for this on the 8th August.....

This is unfair (I feel as a they have done is sent a letter )

I know people can claim back charges but would it be possible to have them stopped before they are withdrawn ? I mean I did'nt even know you could get charges on this account (it's an old one I got when I was 16 (It's a 16-18 year old account I'm now 18 though) and I now have a separate VISA with the same bank anyway I was going to just close this account when I got around to it....

Any advice ?

Thanks !

A co-worker resigned from an over demanding position, which required her to do a two person job. She asked for assistance, did not get it, so she resigned. It was becoming too much for her and the company did not want to give her a raise or hire extra staff. The company has a hiring freeze and expects other people in the department to pick up the slack for the next six months. They do not intend to hire extra staff soon. Is this fair to the other employees? Do these employees have a right to demand compensation for taking on additional responsibilities? If yes, what demands are reasonable? Should these employees start sending out their resumes, if no one seems to be listening?

So my gf is in texas and she heard on the news that pigs are going to start suing gang members even if they are just hanging around on a street corner not doing anything. They are going to do that in Frisko too! What is your responce to that? But my question is can they really do that? If they are not doing anything, isn't that like harrassment? Or racial profiling or something?
