Depends on the kind of check it is. If it's from a person as opposed to an employer, I think it takes longer, but I might be wrong. A check really isn't a check any more because even though it's on paper, it becomes an electronic transaction, as I understand it. Can't you call the bank's 800 number and get your balance information or use your ATM card to get a balance.

I use Bank of America all the time at the ATM and this is their policy with depositing checks. If you did deposit in on Saturday at the ATM, you will have the first $100 available immediately. If the same check were to be processed by a teller, then the check (if local) will have all the funds available Monday morning. I always use the ATM when I need $100 immediately.

It really depends on the check. Sometimes the bank puts a 7 to 10 day hold on checks. Your deposit slip would indicate the hold and the teller should have informed you of the hold.

Best case scenerio, if there is no hold on the check and you deposited it on a Saturday, it won't be posted to your account before Monday at the absolute earliest.

There is no check processing done over the weekends. If you deposit on a Saturday, the earliest it will be credited to your account is sometime on Monday, probably later in the day.
