I owe like $1400.00 on an old credit card. I tried to make payment arrangements in February with my tax return, but they had to wait 10 days until I got it and they refused. I am not working right now because I work at a school and we are off until September. I tried telling the debt collector that I have $0 dollars, I had to move into a relatives house because I am broke. So he is like put your relatives on the phone, get your checkbook right now, because if you don't then we will send the sheriff to your house on Friday at noon to serve papers. Can they do this? I don't want the kids and neighbors to see this. I got really angry and told him I don't have any money, so the payment isn't happening right now. He hung up. So I called the credit card company and asked if they could do that and she said no. So I called back to tell the debt collector that he could not do that and that I told my creditor that I would pay as soon as I could, well it was a different guy and he is like no one

Someone gave in a £20 note at my daughters shop, they have a special pen to mark notes to check to see if theyre real or not and when the note was marked nothing happened which means the note was real[it goes purple if not real] when the note was taken into the bank they put it under an ultraviolet light and they said it was a fake. The shop are now saying that my daughter has to pay back the money and they are going to take it out of her wages. Is she liable to pay back the money and are they allowed to take it out of her wages.

I had a really long interview yesterday and heard back today that I pretty much have the job. I need to send thank you cards today but am not sure what to say. Two people interviewed me and we were all on a first name basis. What should I write in my thank you cards? This is a big, professional firm. Thanks!

I'm a single 25 year old guy. I almost never cook, my fridge has nothing but soda and milk. I pretty much eat with 15 dollars per day or way less. Usually I just have cereal for breakfast and dinner. I usually eat out and spend from 10-15 dollars. But often, I just eat a 5 dollar pizza, I eat at a fast food restaurant, and spend below 10 dollars. I often eat at business lunches and dinners for free.
I sometimes have dinner with friends on weekdays. I never seem to spend more than 75 dollars on food per week.
I can spend from 40 to 100 dollars on weekends going to restaurants and clubs with friends, but I consider those my weekend expenses.

I don't think I drive too much. I just go to work, and go somewhere in the afternoons (visit friends, go to the movies, eat out, etc.)

I spend at least 100 dollars on gas per week, and 75 dollars or less on food.

Is this normal???

I am moving in a few months and I will be needing a change of address. I am suppose to be getting a very important piece of mail around the time I move and I don't want it getting sent to my old apartment if I have already moved. Would it be better to just get my mail held for a few weeks and then after I recieve my important piece of mail then do a change of address??? I really don't want the USPS to screw up anything!

I have a $3,500 limit on my card on which I have used $3,380. I make monthly payments of $129. My APR is 32.24% and Periodic rate is $96.85. I have this card since October of 2006 and have been late paying it twice (one in Dec. and Jan)/. Is this APR fair or is there the possibility of lowering this by switching banks???

For that matter, say like in a fight, when a bookie is walking around taking bets and fifty people are yelling at him, how does he remember who bet what on what, etc. I've seen these scenarios a hundred times in movies but never understood how they work. Thanks

If you buy 5 ABC @ $10, the price goes down to $1, you then buy 5 ABC @ $1, the prices goes up to $6. You sell 10 ABC @ $6. So the gain you make is $5. While the average price is $5.50, are you still taking a loss on the 5 shares @ $10?

How is this reported on income tax returns? As a loss, gain, or both?
