UNITE HERE is the result of two unions that merged in 2004. UNITE (formerly the Union of Needletrades, Industrial and Textile Employees) and HERE (Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees International Union) merged on July 8, 2004 forming UNITE HERE. The union represents more than 450,000 active members and more than 400,000 retirees throughout North America.

UNITE HERE represents workers employed by the operating companies that own the majority of hotels in the nation, including Hilton Hotels Corp., Hyatt Corp., Marriott International Inc. and Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc.

However, this does not include every employed hotel worker, as some cities and even individual hotels might be different. Either they are under a different union, or they aren't unionized at all.

As the above person said, Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees Union (HERE) have merged with Union of Needletrades, Industrial, and Textile Employees (UNITE).

They are no longer part of the AFL-CIO. They are now part of Change to Win Federation. http://www.changetowin.org/

Change to Win consists of:
- International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT)
- Laborers' International Union of North America (LIUNA)
- Service Employees International Union (SEIU)
- UNITE HERE
- United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America (UBC)
- United Farm Workers (UFW)
- United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW)

Change to Win seems to be more focused on Organizing than anything else. Time will tell if this split has hurt Labor Causes or not.

What's your question?

Some hotel workers are unionized, some aren't.
