I inherited a house from my father, through his irrevocable trust. He died, almost to the day, when we get our taxable assessment from the Michigan township where we live. Should I use the township assessor's value instead of paying an assessor, to calculate the value of his estate? It's simpler, and saves me a few bucks. Or should I get the house assessed now to pay lower taxes on the 'stepped up' value of the home later, when I eventually sell it, probably in 7-10 years. Will getting an assessment on the house's past value be a big headache down the road? A big expense?

I am having to sell my house because of Divorce, someone told me if the price of the sale is greater than that value of the day that the partner left the matrimonial home, and that they have not contributed to the mortgage payments ect, that they are only entitled to half of the equity from the previous day. I this true?

My boss is involved in a pyramid scheme (similar to Amway). He is really pushing for me to get involved because I have a lot of friends. He hopes I can get them in this thing too. Trouble is, he is a crappy boss on my full-time job, so I really don't want any more dealings with him. I am also in college, work full-time, two kids, two part-time jobs, so no time for anything else as it is. How do I tell boss of the year to back off? Trouble is, he will assign me crappy projects until one of my coworkers pisses him off. I like my job and the way it's going, hopefully he won't crap on that for me. We work in a government agency, so HR will probably be no help either.

I have bad credit. No credit card debt. Just various debts that are 6 plus years old. I have no savings, so would have to be 100 percent financed. Everyone tells me that first time home buyers can get loans easy, but every realtor I have tried to get a home loan through says no. Is there some lending agency that can help me?

I am currently engaged to a man who has ran into a lot of financial problems. He is trying to get out of debt however, I am concerned I will be held responsible for his previous debts once we are married. We live in Michigan. At this time I am not on any of the accounts and do not intend to be added in the future.

Last Friday when I got paid I put in my account a payroll check from a big company. It was due to clear at midnight that same night (which is weird in the first place because most banks made that available right away). Right around midnight I made a debit card purchase. I check my online statement on Tuesday. They charged me an overdraft fee for this transaction. When I called to inquire about it I was informed because at the time of the authorization of the transaction I only had 30 cents in my account they charged me the fee. Keep in mind when the money was actually pulled from my account I had more than enough to cover the small debit card purchase.

No other bank I had dealt with in terms of a debit card does not work like this. Is it legal for them to charge me an overdraft fee at the time of authorization even though at the time when the money was pulled it was there?

I live in Ohio if that makes a difference.

Please do not give your answer - "Just get a lawyer."
Would be great if you have done this yourself, and please share the experience and any forms that I would require.
Thanks.

I am in a long distance relationship. We have been together five years. He lives in the Uk and I like in Australia. We have been doing the long distance thing for a year and a half. At the moment we are waiting for his visa approval so he can live here with me. I was planning on going to visit him this year, but I have realised that I just can't afford it. I broke my leg earlier this year and due to this and the two operations I have had to have for my leg, I can't afford to go. This means that I can't see him until his visa is approved as he has already come here this year (when I broke my leg). We have no idea when this will be.
So anyway, I need to raise some money to go over there, because this is killing me. I don't want to get into debt but I just don't know how else I would raise the money.
Any ideas??? Know anyone rich, who has a heart??? :-)

I'm waiting for a call from a company I auditioned for last week, they said it'd be Mon-Thurs which means I've got 2 days left to wait...
What's worse is they said if I didn't get in, they won't ring for another week or so, so I don't even know if it's worth me waiting at all...
They have hundreds of people to call and I may not even be one of them...
How can I take my mind off it?
