I would like to purchase a house that is going up for auction and i am going to go to the court house to see if there are any liens or anything on this house. does any one know how to do this without paying $$$?

The real problem comes in several years from now when you sell the home.

Something you did not see or did not think was a problem pops up and causes you thousands of dollars.

I wouldn't do it and I have sold houses for 29 years.

The format of operation varies by locale, but such searches are free. You can inquire for assistance from one of the land office employees. Most offices have this information on microfiche, computer, paper record, or a combination of all three.

It's a bit confusing at first, but once you know how it works where you live, it's not bad at all. Plan on spending an hour or so at the land office on your first visit.
