If I make 30,000 and it is short term (as a trader) do I pay 25% capital gains or is that just the LID of the tax rate, and I would actually pay 15% since that would be the tax bracket I would be in.

I am a teacher; therefore, I am usually off for the summer. However, this summer I worked out of town for three weeks and I have quite a few home improvement projects I need to get into (just purchased 1st home three months ago). The pay at this job is awful, $6.50. However, it is where I buy ALL of my clothes from. The discount is 40% off of everything. I don't even care about the discount anymore. I just want to enjoy my summer and paint/decorate my house. The problem is the manager is sooooo nice! I feel so bad about wanting to quit and don't even know how to go about doing it. Should I quit? If so, how can I do it? Thanks

I get quarterly reports on my 457(b) plan. I almost always have gains, however, I am unsure on how to determine if the investment options are strong earners, or merely mediocre. What is the process for determining if the investment's I've chosen are strong when the option amounts change due to varying bi-weekly contributions? How would I determine if the gains are good in the following example for one quarter?
Example:
Beginning Balance: $5,011.33
Contributions / Transfers In: $370.00
Gain/(Loss) / Interest: $136.68
Ending Balance: $5,518.01

Since starting in 10/02 I have contributed $3993.00 and had gains of $1525.01. However, the contribution amounts have varied greatly over this time period. So what is the proper gage on success? At 35 years old, my investments are diversified between high and moderate risk with some low risk mixed in.

I'm looking for a life insurance policy that insures 2 people with just 1 policy (like a husband-wife policy). So that if 1 dies, the survivor becomes the beneficiary.
I was thinking if we get 2 separate insurance policies, and 1 dies, all the previous payments of the survivor will just go to waste, since the beneficiary/spouse is gone.
Do y ou know what type of insurance this "joint" insurance is? Is there any life insurance company that offers this type of insurance?

P.S. I am also a published author and know that anything I create is automaticly copyrighted when I create it. So says the Library of Congress. And it's not really the $9.95 that I object to, it's what I believe to be, the infringement of my copyright. If Yahoo needs the $9.95, let them think up a legimate reason to get in my pocket.

I am concerned. I am in the first stages of this situation and i called the bank the other day telling them i could no longer afford the payment. I would like to work out an afforable payment plan with them but i have my primary residence which has a quite a bit of equity and also another investment property which also has equity in it. i am concerned that they will want to secure the payment plan by possibly placing a lien or something on one of the properties and if i can not afford the pymnt in the future my biggest concern is them taking my own primary residence. also when i got the loan i think they are under the impression that the house that is going into foreclosure is my primary residence.

Does anyone find this rather unfair?

Situation:
My boss (a dentist) has two dental offices. A main one (7 operating rooms with 3 associate docs and 10 employees in staff) and a branch (4 rooms total with just the main doc and 4 employees in staff).

I work at the branch.

The doctor went on a full week vacation with his family.

The manager closed down the main office but made us, in the smaller office, come in all week.

The manager's logic is that we need to take incoming phone calls from patients.

But the MAIN office gets on average 20 new patients a week while we get around 4 new patients a week.

Since I'm moving in 6 weeks and trying to earn up every which way I can, I took it as a "earn wage without doing much work" type of week.

But of course there are the three others in the office that would have preferred a vacation and spending time with family.

What's your take? Should this have been reported somewhere?

I hate ebay, I dont want to have to pay or have anyone else pay for shipping costs. I am looking for people who are interested in buying 'yardsale' items without me having to do a yardsale. In other words get ahold of me and you can come inside my house and look at what I have for sell. I have a TON of boys and girls clothes from birth to 6T. I checked my balance online yesterday and noticed many charges on my account (pending) that made no sense...since I "mislaid" my card last Wednesday. Doh! I thought the card was in the pants I wore last Weds, and didnt find them until Saturday (kids had worked on laundry).

Anyways, to make a long story short - I am out 600.00. Have called and reported this- got a new ATM card and pin # on the way. I also called the Sheriff's department today.

Anyone know what will happen? I have a rent check due and now not enough funds to cover it.

Business partnership between husband, wife, and another person. The other person did not handle any finance just invested the money. The husband and wife handled the books and paid bills. The other partner finds out that taxes for the business was not paid for 3 years.

How responsible is the third person to the IRS audit. Do they still have to pay the taxes owed or will the husband and wife have to pay it since they were responsible for the fraud?
