I'm a 27 year old stay at home mom of 4, I have a great idea and really think this would work. I am looking for a partner to fund my business. A silent partner would be great, but at this point any partner will do. I live in eastern Iowa so anyone from Iowa or Illinois would be great. I'm a hard worker, I have the means to make this business work. I just dont have the financial ability to do so. Anyone interested or know where I can find a partner elsewhere online? Thanks so much!!

Well basically I live in a med. size town where there are no bookstores, I would love to open a used or new/used bookstore. I have the ways to get bulks of used books for cheap, I have a store in mind to rent, I'm available to work as much as needed, I have a boyfriend willingly to work. I have knowledge of books and buying/selling inventory. I think it's a good idea. I mean you have to drive over half an hour to get to a bookstore anywhere around here, and this town is about 30,000 people. I really couldn't say how much I would earn in a month, because used books don't sell for much, but I would hope around 1-5 grand a month to start.

Your best bet, in this order, for a financing partner ...

Relative
Friend
Local angel investor

Check with the local Small Business Development Center office (google search) ... they can put you in contact with "angels".

being in the UK i can't really fund you but i do have a few suggestions to put to you
1)i think 1-5k is a wee bit optimistic to start particular if your not thinking about how much you are going to put back in the way of investment in new stock
2) later on you might want to think about DVD rentals to or buying and selling used computer games,
3) stock newspapers too, the local one and a few national ones, mainly because its a great way to get attention, guy pops in for a paper in the morning, comes back in the afternoon for a book see where im going?

4) stock both new a and used books gives people a wider choice
i think you have a nice gap in the market there though

I haven't much in the way of the ability to finance you, but I might be able to make a few suggestions on how to get money together. First off, what's your business idea? What is your schedule like for times you can work? What kind of profit margin do you think you will have?

Basically, I am looking for more information on your plan.
