I'll probably make about $40-50 in interest from my CDs and savings accounts, do I have to file with the IRS? I'd probably owe nothing on it but just asking.

My friend manages her fathers business, and they just did a drug test on all staff members, one of the guys results came back positive on various drugs, and apparently he has been taking alot of days off lately (possibly due to drug use) My friend is unsure on what to do with him, she knows she has every right to fire him, but she said that he is normally a really nice guy and hard worker, and think he must be having personal problems to spark this change in behaviour, and doesn't want to sack him as he could just get worse, and it doesn't really resolve any problems, can she order him to do like a rehab or drug withdrawel program to keep his job?? an if so who pays, does the company or should it come out of his wage?? she has called numerous places but cant seem to get the information she is looking for? So I thought I'd ask here for her and see if anyone can point us in the right direction or if any one has had a similar situation occur?? Thankyou :)

1) Theres a portion that asks about previous employment and since I have never been employed before I put down volunteer work. It asks the reason I stopped working there, what should I say if I worked for a week and then the program was over?

2) Also, it asks for any additional information. Since I'm only a student I want to explain myself. So I have:

"As a hardworking and motivated individual I have taken and plan to take numerous advanced and honors placement classes, as well as participated in several extra curricular activities such as model united nations, volunteer work, etc."

Is this too much? How can I improve that so it doesn't sound so pretentious?

Thanks a lot for your help!! I really appreciate it.

We stayed in a hotel advertised in a qantas holidays brochure. It was mouldy and dirty and was not cleaned daily as advertised, so we checked out but were charged a nights cancellation fee, although we did not use the room at all that day. then we stayed at another hotel and had to pay for that rom too, so we payed for both rooms although we only used onr obviously. my travel insurance company is refusing to refund my original room, quoting that i chose a more expensive hotel as if i wanted to screw around trying to find accomodation on my overseas holiday!! There was a conference!! There were no other hotels to stay anyway!! but anyway, do i have a case at all? is someone liable to pay this, even if it be the company who advertised the hotel? I had to pay an extra $100 a night to stay at the clean place for 4 more days, i didnt have a choice but all i want back is the cheaper hotels 1 night accomodation which we did not use. what do i do?

I am ready to plunge into the real estate market, and was wondering what the pros and cons of buying a manufactured home rather than a condo or townhome would be. Here in CA, a typical 1300 sq ft three bed/two bath mobile home in my area goes for about $150k - roughly half the price of a $300k 600 sq ft one bed/one bath condo. I realize that with mobile homes, one has to pay rent on the space- but condos and townhomes pay similarly priced HOA dues every month. I am a single guy in my early 40s. Any advice would be greatly appreciated- thanks!

Most of the contract employees usually have a clause in their contracts stating that he/she may not be able to work with the end client directly. Is this legal? If yes, is there a work around?

I am a renter and pay my rent every month. I live in a rural area. I have two non operatable cars parked on the property. The property is clean, cleared, and not a junkyard. The cars are registerd non-operable with the DMV and pose no hazard or nuisance to anything or anyone. Can my landlord come onto the property and remove them, have them removed or force me to remove my own property? (non-operable cars)
He claims that his homeowners insurance rate will increase if they're on the property. The cars have been on the property for 5 years already.
