I am a renter and pay my rent every month. I live in a rural area. I have two non operatable cars parked on the property. The property is clean, cleared, and not a junkyard. The cars are registerd non-operable with the DMV and pose no hazard or nuisance to anything or anyone. Can my landlord come onto the property and remove them, have them removed or force me to remove my own property? (non-operable cars)
He claims that his homeowners insurance rate will increase if they're on the property. The cars have been on the property for 5 years already.

I will tell you to read your contract first of all.
Call an insurance company - probably a property insurance company and inquire - pretend that you're inquiring about your own property that you have a tenant that has car or such in your property...you know what i mean...then call another insurance company and make yourself the tenant...blah blah blah... you know what I'm talking about. If you didn't get the answer you need...then do the ultimatum w/c is...
to contact an attorney that deals with this kind of problem to find out if what he's (your landlord) saying is true - a little expense here though. Good luck.

Paying rent every month doesn't give you the right to make the property your personal junk yard. Even if the trash is cleaned up---broken down cars mean junk. Two cars sitting 5 years is un called for. As most any landlord will agree, you will most likely leave them cars for him to dispose of after you leave. Why else would they be there 5 years. Are they classics perhaps? Different story. Technically they should be covered. Many municipalities have such rules.

If they are not insured then they are illegal .. non operable or not .. also a lot of towns have ordinances about cars not on the road .. you should just sell them to a junk yard or for parts .. If your landlords insurance increases and he doesn't remove them he may hit you a bigger rent next time around to pay for the extra charges incurred by your junk ..
