i know i pay more taxes

Well, if you mean zero for dependents then yes you will have more taken out of your paycheck, but then it will be more than likely that you will have a refund coming to you when you figure out your taxes after the year is over. Now if you are talking about how much you have taken out of your paycheck for taxes, then you will come home with more in your paycheck, but will more than likely owe taxes at the end of the year. And if you owe more than $1,000, there will be interest and possibly penalties on top of the tax.

It's OK to put zero. They'll take more taxes out of each paycheck than if you put another number. But you won't pay more in the end, you'll pay the same overall. If you have more withheld than you end up owing, it will be refunded to you when you file your tax return.

Yes, you can put zero. All it does is cause more money to be withheld from each paycheck, with a larger return at tax time.
