Well, it's a long story how it happened, but my checkbook got really soaking wet. It's out on the kitchen table now trying to get dry. Do I have to throw away those checks, or will they still be useable? They are duplicate checks; will the copy page still work right?

I own my home, but do not have enough equity built to refinance and get $50K to pay off credit card debt-what are my options? Someone told me a second mortgage may work, but I have only owned my home for 14 months. Balance on my current mortgage is $77K, home value is max $90K.

We are first-time home buyers. Our closing date was supposed to be on June 29th. Our attorney just contacted us and told us that the sellers are unable to purchase the home they had intended due to inspection issues and request that we extend the closing date to July 31st. Our attorney says that we can keep the date and charge rent or extend the date.

I don't mind extending the date as long as they pay to extend the lock on our mortgage, but is there something else I need to worry about being that we've never bought a home before?

Obviously, I don't want them to extend it beyond a month. Is there a legal way to discourage that? I rent now and am not under any pressure to move out.

The family we're buying from is very nice and recently had some terrible circumstances, but we still can't have it extend any further than the 31st of July.

I am newly divorced and will no longer be filing my income taxes as a married person. I assume I will be claiming myself as a dependent and possibly one of my children as well. How do I get an estimate of what I will be paying out on a weekly basis?

I had to sign a 'confidentiality' form when I was working there, what gives her the right to send my personal details to a company, even if she does think it will help me to get a job.
I think she should have asked for my consent first.
I have tried to discuss it with her, but she is continually in meetings, won't answer her phone or voicemail. She agrreed to see me yesterday, I knew I was going to be 10-15mins late (my fault) so I txt her, she got the text, and in the end I was only 10 minslate, however when I arrived at the office, I was told that she 'was in a meeting'. I spoke to someone else, but I really want her to speak to and acknowledge what she has done, as a 'Volunteer' I don't have many rights, so I would appreciate any help or advice that anyone can offer. I am sure their are other people in this position, so it may help them as well. I have tried my best to contact her, but she is avoiding me. I only want what's right.

My mother and father were never legally married, but were common lawed married. They purchased a house together in 1990. In 2002, my father left my mother for another woman and moved to Oregon with her five children. My mother wants to sell the house, but because my father's name is on the deed, she can't do it unless he agrees. She paid money into the house all those years and my father wants 50% of the sale even though he's never paid a house payment. (I've paid more than he has).

How can my mother remove my father's name off the deed? Or what would she have to do to make sure my father does not receive any of the sale money? There is only $40,000 left on the house.

High school seems to be passing quickly, I'm already going to be a junior in highschool. And I am quite confused on what it is that I really want to be, I'm really focused on Photography but after researching pros and cons, being a photographer may not be the best choice although it's my main hobby.

I'm interested in ( Photography,Modeling and Psychology)
But don't know where to begin, I want a job that will pay good and something i will be focus on,
I'm good at computers but terrible at math.

it can be something aside from the three top things i've mention any ideas on what i should do this is worrying me a lot.

Please don't tell me to talk to my parents, that's not going to work i've tried various of times and i don't get a good respond.

Thank you =D

signed a lease with one other person in March 07 to start August 1 07 for college housing. am unable to return to school. lease contains a specific line to list address of specific unit to be leased this was left blank, also landlord did not request full deposit (only took 2/3s). given that lease seems incomplete is the lease legal and/or is there a way I can get out of lease.

I'm 22. I don't have any history of credit. (No credit cards, loans, etc... Nothing.)

My friends told me that they all started building credit by opening a student credit card from Chase, the ones with a 200 dollar limit.

I tried to do that but actually got denied. They said that I have "too few accounts open to resolve credit."

So how do you do it?
