I have heard that I should not pay off my home loan before securing a loan for a new home. The reason I was told is that my credit score is higher if I have an existing home loan even if I only need a $100 to pay it off. Something about the payment history still showing up in the credit report if the loan is not paid off being a good thing. Can anyone confirm/deny this?

Before you start to type that full time student's are not tax exempt and that they are treated no different than everyone else realize this:
It IS possible to be exempt from council tax.
I have heard that it is possible to be exempt from FICA.
Ive heard someone say something about income tax as well, but I am skeptical about that and I think he might have meant that thats the way it used to be. So my question is what are all of the full time student tax exemptions? Are there any programs for full-time students that do sort of the same thing like refunds or full blown exemptions?
Cmon, I know there are some shifty well informed students out there. Also I open the response up for high school studies as well, I am not talking entirely about college students. I am not sure if there is a difference, but I am curious to find out.
Oh and by the way I am talking about United States Taxes.

If you were making under $30,000 a year, and you got a job offer at a pharmaceutical company who was not aware of how much you make do you think asking for $35,000 would be asking to much? I would be moving two steps up from where I am now so it's not a lateral move. I guess what I am trying to say is pharmaceutical companies are know for having money and this company has been around since 1985 so I just did not want to shoot myself in the foot by not ask for enough. The website said the have competitive pay. I feel I deserve this much I just don't want to over do it.

If an application only has a place for current employee recomendations, where can I put other recomendations from a teacher?
And does baby sitting, house cleaning, lawn care for a friend of the family count as past employment even if I was not on a pay roll?

How long did it take from judge approval to get the check from the back pay? Or the first payment check?

I was approved in the hearing and it's over a month and I still have not received a check.

Anyone's experiences? I am in CT.

Thank you.

I have been struggling to get work in a new area I have recently moved to. I worked for an agency with a couple of jobs - the last I did not finish my contract as I was depressed and the job was not right for me. It was difficult to talk to the client I worked for as they were in constant meetings and admittedly did not ring the agency to say how I felt as I thought I could cope but through depression I finished the job at the end of the day after a couple of weeks and contacted agency next day. They sent me a letter saying that I have let them down badly and why did I not disclose that I suffered from depression on my application form. Was I lying. I said I only get depressed of my circumstances. They told me not to contact them again and the letter was quite nasty. I cannot go to them for a reference now or other agencies I signed on with at the same time as them because they knew I was working for them. I feel really penalised now and don't know what to do to get employment.

My fiance's mom is planning on claiming her granddaughter and the mom on her taxes but the girl's mom may claim both of them two. What would happen and who would get to claim them? One is going to have the girl sign a form saying that she has premission to claim them, and the other doesn't. But they have lived with my fiance's mom since the beginning of April. I'm just wondering, because I was told whoever filed first would get it and I was just trying to find out if she needed to go ahead and file or what.

Your client is a manufacturer. For several years, the company buried empty paint cans on its property. The paint was used in the production process. Recently, a state environmental agency informed the company that it was required to dig up the paint cans and decontaminate the land. The company spent a substantial amount for this environmental cleanup in the current year. An IRS agent contends that the cost must be added to the basis in the land because the cleanup improved the land. The company’s CFO has asked you to determine if any authority exists that would support a current deduction for these costs.
