I am really wanting to get into a home-based business, or something to where I can make money while being home. It is so hard to decipher through all the b.s. on the web. And everyone wants money. If I had it, would I be looking for something that will make me money? Anyhow, if anyone has any good ideas, I would love for you to bounce them off me!

Is it better to quit a job due to disatisfaction, unfulfillment and personal ethics or hope that things would turn around? I've been working at a job for about 1.5 years and am simply not sure that I wish to go in the same direction that the boss wants me to go. A job, I feel, should be like a successful marriage, which benefits both partners. If one partner is unhappy, perhaps it is time to part company while things remain amicable?

I'm unhappy at my present job (its a corporate-type office job) and I have decided to leave it for a better opportunity elsewhere. However, I'm not so sure that I'm completely comfortable with everyone at my present job knowing where I'm going to be working next. Is it okay if I submit a standard two week notice and be done with it? What can I say if people ask where I'm going (i.e. "I'm not allowed to discuss my new employer until I start working there"...?)

It makes it tough, because I also don't want to sound rude or weird if people ask me where I'm going and I tell them that I can't talk about it... any thoughts?

Boss says to me today (this is a woman in her mid-50's), she says, "I don't understand how you think sometimes." This was in response to me telling her I spent a dollar at the drug store to go for cancer research.

I inherited just under $1.2 million and am planning on quitting my job and living on the interest from it. The problem is, I have no idea what investment strategy I should take or where I should begin? I would like to have a small portion invested in high risk to incur some growth over time, but for the most part I am merely looking for a safe annuity.

What is a realistic return I can expect for putting this money away safely. I was thinking even 9% earns over $100k a year which is all I would ever need and I could begin to travel etc.

What would you do, what do you recommend?

I am 20 years old, full time college student...I have 5 years in retail and sales experience... I used to work for a bridal shop for many years, then at another clothing store as a store manager, and then I was offered a position at Bath and body works, and now they want to make me a manager here...which i am completely happy about....right? well, there is a good chance the only store that needs a manager, is a store thats many cities away, which obviously, i wont want to do, nor CAN i do...the sad thing is, that if his managers position doesnt work out, then ill have to go back to a sales associate, which gives me about 3 hours A WEEK. no, really. lately i have been in tears, over the amount of stress ive been under, and so many bad things always seem to happen all at once. i might be facing the possibility of not having a job, and i have tried everything.where else can i work! i dont have the time rite now to work a $7/hr job. i have experience, i am a hard worker, and i have BILLS

Yesterday I paid off all of my credit card bills as I wanted to be rid of my debt. I have a pay day loan that I need to pay back but have defaulted on it (financial issues). In October 06, I closed my checking account do to fraudulent activity and reopened a new one however I failed to advise the pay day place as it was only October and I was getting my bonus in January so I would pay it back then. I received a call from a guy claiming to be from the Fraudulent Dept. and advised me that my name was being submited to a system called ETracks for fraudulent checks. He advised that if it is submitted to e-tracks, all of the local law enforcements will have my info and a warrant can be issued and i will be given a criminal record for fruadulent checks! I said why wouldn't the company contact me when the debit was returned! Why would they keep submitting it to a closed account! He said if it's not paid by tomorrow he will submit my name through etracks and get this, I have to pay him!

i had two interviews today and got asked back for a third to meet the vp of sales. I spoke of my previous boss and how his negative reinforcement management style forced me to leave my old company...Did I screw myself by doing this? I also talked about how miserable I was there, but how I still made them a ton of money even with this adversity!

Alright from what little I have learned so far in my valuation class about bond yield I understand that in order to get the rate of return = to YTM we require: 1) to get the cash flows when promised, 2) Hold it to maturity, 3) be able to reinvest that bond at the original YTM. I don't understand how the 3rd one helps us get the return on the bond that equals the YTM? Can anyone please explain. Thanks a lot everone.

I was released for modified work from my dr. with restrictionsof only one handed work. He put no hourly restrictions on although when I took my release to my employer he is only letting me return to work at 5 hours per day. I am not doing my regular job but one they made up for me. The doctor said I could return at full time, why is the employer placing restrictions on my hours? Is this legal? I thought the dr. was the only one that could place restrictions on the work hours? Also I have heard after you return to work employers like to "let you go", have any of you had experience with this? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I am having a terrible time finding information for a high-end liquor/cigar store start-up. I haven't been able to find anything on the net and the suppliers I've called haven't really been able to give me information (they seem to be ready to take numbers, not give them). A couple of them suggested that I contact other liquor store owners and get their imput so I did. No one will respond to my calls or emails. Does anyone out there have any ideas on how I can go about getting this information?

I got a 1099 today from a company I tutor for and it doesnt look professional or even legal enough to pass for any kind of form that the IRS would accept as a document. (I have received several 1099's in the past from other companies and this is NOT what they've looked like before.)

The information is typed on a piece of 8.5 x 11 white piece of paper
The info appears to have been typed in Microsoft Word in a plain font.

In the left top corner is the company name and address.
Two lines under that is a social security number (not mine)
Then 2 lines under that is only my name, town, state and zip code (no address).
Then to the right of the address is the dollar amount I made for the year. That's it.

The owner of the company put a post-it note on it in the envelope with a note to me saying, "this is your 1099". Is this form legal and when I send it in to the IRS are they going to question this with me???

Thanks.

I had a question about applying for jobs, specifically related to cover letters. Is this mandatory, and should it be included with the resume or presented at a later time in the application process? This is my first time applying for a serious job, so I want to do it right.
