A friend of yours wants to start her own pet sitting business. She already has a business license that is required in her city. She has had a personal checking account for years. You have told her that she also needs to open a separate account for her business needs, but she does not understand why. Explain to her why she should have a business account separate from her personal account.

I am moving to Charlotte NC in March. I am looking for a nice two bedroom apt in a safe area with good schools, I have one preschooler and one starting kindergarten this year. I would love a nice neighborhood with lots of children.

Does anyone know what taxes I would have to pay if I am running an internet based shop from home. Do I have to register for VAT as soon as I start to sell? How much national insurance would I have to pay? I expect to be selling items of around $25k P.A of which at least 50% will be profit.

There is a vacancy in the institution I work in which is one grade up than my present position, it has more responsbilities including staff and operation, and a bit more money. A good opps for self development and I want to take the challenge.

I like the boss, and I think I can work well with her. It seems that this job offers everything I desire - satisfaction, good working relationship, opps to contribute and a great boss. Although I enjoy what I'm doing now, the team never gets along with each other very well.

However, I don't know why I'm a bit hesitated. The job is also open to external candidates and there are few colleagues acting for the post already. I don't know if I stand a good chance.

I am confident in doing well and sort of confident that the boss knows of my ability. If I do not get it at the end, I will remain in the same team (which never gets along, and rumours will be flying everywhere). Does it matter? any views?

It seems to me that with my Social Security and birthdate they can find out everything I have ever done, where I have worked, been fired, married, assets, debts, etc. so my question is: are they actually looking for how forthcoming I am in answering the questions? Are they actually looking to see if I tell the truth in filling out the paperwork, is that the real test? I have been background checked before but this is really extensive. And what percent of the references will they actually contact? This is for a confidential City position

I'll make it simple and short. I have $1,000 left in my savings account.
I have just one credit card left to pay off--$2,000; I'm paying about $35 interest on every month on the balance.

I also have a personal loan to payoff--$3,800 left. I'm paying $220 month which is going to take until mid 2008 to pay off.

Should I put the thousand towards the credit card or the loan?

thank you
