I am a headhunter specializing in the retail industry and here are some suggestions:

1. Go to the corporate website for the supermarket chain and read up on their corporate matters. Make sure read their press releases section and any investor relations materials they have. This will give you insight into the company and allow you to discuss the corporation in great detail. Also do a search for any news articles that have been written about them.

2. Shop the store about 3 days before your interview and be able to talk about your experience from a customer perspective -- both good and bad and suggestion points of improvement or reccomended changes

3. Dress very professionally

4. Come with a list of 2-3 good questions about teh position and 2-3 good questions about the company. I would suggestion questions like "Can you tell me what the promotability path for this position is?" and "How is the sales volume for this tore comparing with other stores in the district? "What is the employer turnover ratio for the hourly employees?

5. Bring a copy of your resume, a typed out sheet of contact information for your references and a separate sheet that lists your retail experience specifically.

6. Write a thank you note to your interviewer immediately after your interview

Be sure to have at least one or two questions prepared to ask at the end of the interview (and whatever you do, don't ask about salary or flexible work hours until the offer is made - you should already have some idea what it is anyway). This is your time to shine! Remember that you are also in a position of 'interviewing' this employer as well - you want to make sure it's a good fit for YOU too! Good luck!
