Ok...i jst got promoted to department manager recently. Bad timing cause the people in there are incompetant. But the money is supposed to be good and its a stepping stone to zone manager which pays a whole lot. My mentor, larry was a zone manager up for $30,000 bonus in a few weeks but got fired yesterday for b.s. I' applied to another job online and have an interview on Monday Jan 22. it pays well but not as much as Zone manager position. what should i do? I could keep my present job, hopefully move up to where the real money but be scared of getting fired or take safer job? Also, thinking of moving closer to work. Present job would mean moving to Union, N.J. Other job is closer to where i live now.

Google was just named #1 on the Fortunes 2007 List of 100 best places to work for in America. They include perks like free gourmet meals; doing your laundry at work; drop off your dry cleaning; get an oil change and get a massage all on site. Also, I saw on Oprah, they have daycare, lap pools, state of the art gyms, beach volleyball, haircuts, and you can bring your dog to work! If you could pick any perks that your job would have (other than better salary) what would they be? Mine would be free lunch, free transit to get there, and free laundry machines to use on site!

My employer contracted me out to another business to do computer training and gave me a 1099-MISC. I billed my employer $2000 which is included in box 7 (non-employee comp)on the 1099. That part seems ok. However, I also go to company sponsored meetings and am reimbursed for my mileage. My employer lumped in the mileage ($400) on the same 1099. So, box 7 reads: $2400. Since the mileage is a reimbursement, should I deduct $400 worth of mileage on the Schedule C? I don't see why I should pay tax on a reimbursement and for something I could normally deduct. Any thoughts on how to go about this? Thanks!

I have a victoria secrets credit card. I have paid it in full and have no credit available anymore. I like to keep it open because I receive benefits each month & coupons. Does it harm my credit to keep it open if I'm not using it? What are some concerns I might have?

All suggestions welcome.

I was accepted to Texas A&M University in their Computer Science program. The reason I don't go to a specialized art school is because I am going to join the AirForce ROTC and do athletics in college, hence A&M offers those three areas. Hence, my question is, would an advertising firm or web design company consider a B.S. Degree in Computer Science as an appropriate qualification to be a specialist in web design and computer graphics. Obviously you need a portfolio and knowledge and use of the industry standard of the types of programs that are used, but, this question is more directed towards the education aspect of my career choice?

I came home to find a list detailing that I would need to pull all the items that are in cabinets, drawers or closets out and into the center of the room so that they could douse my place with chemicals. I neither want to live with the chemicals or to have to essentially move in all over again. Do I have the right to refuse them entry to my unit. I live in Los Angeles by the way if that matters.

I am going to need medication, I won't have health insurance. I am addicted to the medication. The medication is too much money ($180 for a month, plus doctors fees). What do I do?

I am not poor, I juts have no health insurance! Wasting all that cash on the medication sounds like a bad idea.

I have a bank account, but I'm not putting any money into it because of a nasty arbitration case. So Ive been cashing all my paychecks but I'm trying to save money. It's really hard to save money when the cash is right there. So where can I put my money to save it, but that can't be garnished by the courts??
