i want to open a checking's account, which bank has the best consumer service... which bank should i go to?

You might be eligible to join a credit union. If so, you can usually get better rates, better service and lower fees than a bank.

I bank with Washington Mutual and I love them.
I used to bank with Commerce Bank, and they are great as well. I left them because they do not have a presence on the west coast.
I used to work for Wells Fargo. They will steal your money over and over again.
It's funny how many contradicting responses you are getting from all of us.

US Bank is very good, but whatever you do, DON'T USE WASHINGTON MUTUAL. They screw everything up and don't care.
