Does anyone really have the desire to be successful anymore? or are people happy with just getting by?

Where is that drive and passion people use to have?

I have a fixer-upper that I owned for a year. I put about $4000 into the fixes plus 4 months of sweat equity. Well, the house burned down 6 months ago and it's in the process of being rebuilt. Well now I can't afford to pay the mortgage anymore. So my bro offered to pay half of the downpayment that I put on the house in exchange for 50% of the equity when I sell. Is that fair? I owned the house for a year now and paid for the repairs. I also paid the mortgage for the last 6 months that it burned down. But my bro says he's strapped for money and the only way he'll do it is if he gets 50%. It's hard for me to think straight as to whether this is fair becuase he is my bro, and he's helping me out, but my gut says it isn't fair. But I know that if I don't accept his offer, I may loose this house as I can't afford to pay the mortgage anymore.

Subject: Letter of Recommendation for CFB Petawawa

To Whom It May Concern,

I have known Richard Brennan for many years. Richard has been presently working on my horse farm as a labourer. He has skills in mucking box stalls, grooming, daily chores, and repairing minor problems. Richard is a very hard worker. I also believe that Richard is very consistent and applies himself well to his assigned tasks. He has shown iniative and willingness to take on new tasks.

I would recommend Richard Brennan for an employee at your company. He is a smart person and loves to meet new people. Richard is well motivated and very organized.

How should I end the rest.

The pay is average enough for me to pay the bills, eat well, and buy stuff. The problem is I hate the work, I don't think it is going to advance me to the forefront of my field and I am also certain that I won't ever accumulate close to 1 million at this company. Plus I think the company culture sucks and is full of haters in the sense that they always blame others for something going wrong or can't be fixed. Sometimes I think I am crazy because I am seeing stuff that is being done so blatantly wrong yet no one tries to improve things. There doesn't seem to be a standard of excellence and achievement. I feel like I got a lot of great ideas but am not wiling to share it because:
1) haters feel threatened, think I'm dissing their work, will be pessimistic and say the project is too high risk no funds

2) I don't get anything except a 1 time bonus and maybe a pat on the back. Why share a potentially million dollar idea and have it split 1,000 different ways?

What should I do?

I had been working for a big company for 6 years. I started as inside sales nad ended up being the operations manager. I was unhappy, stressed, and was getting paid less than I was as just bookkeeper, also I wanted to go back to school and take care of my two little boys. I decided to quit and gave my two weeks notice. When I did this my boss asked me to train the new person taking over so I agreed to train him for a few days. While training him I discovered he was going to get paid about $10,000 more than I was. Granted he has managment experience but he knows nothing about the business. I did not mention anything to my exboss I really do not see the point now that I am out but I really thought it was unfair. Should I have said something?? The reason why I held back was because he will have to be a reference for any other job offer and I do not want this to bite in the a.. later! What would you have done??

I filed a complaint against my boss just before the holidays for something she was trying to make me do that was unethical. She turned the tables on me and brought up old dirt and started disciplinary action against me. There is an investigation pending but the policy of the company won't talk to certain parties involved, only direct employees, some of who I know they've not contacted. What should I do? I have a monetary committment to stay with this company for at least another 6 months. I believe I won't hear anything else on my complaint and they now won't allow me to transfer to another dept. Should I talk to a lawyer or just leave this alone? The folks in HR seem to believe me but I also get the sense their hands are tied and I've just ruffled the wrong feathers.

I have a personal check that I would really like to cash tomorrow. I know that since it is MLK day, banks won't be open.. but I'm wondering if there's anywhere else I can do it? Will check cashing services be closed because the banks aren't open?

And since I've never gone to a check cashing place before, are they okay to use? Do I need anything besides the check and my ID?

I'm doing a fundraiser for a 501(c)(3) non profit and I was wondering if there's a standard receipt I could download to give to businesses that donate money or services (and where can I download it?). Or can I simply write up a form myself and fill it in when they donate?
Thank you.

From January to May, I was a full time student, under my parent's financial care and insurance. I graduated from college in May. Between May and October I did some traveling and job searching, which resulted in my first "real" job on October 30. At that point I became financially independent, but I still live at home, with my own income and insurance.

Can my parents claim me as a dependent on their 2006 federal and state (Connecticut) tax returns?

I am in Canada and did some interntional business as commission agent. Basically I source the product (fresh produce) for the local client overseas. But the product is shipped by the exporter to my client here directly. Due to quality problem, my client could not pay me any money for the problem product (because the sales return hardly covered the sales cost). Yet the overseas shipper kept pressure on me to pay off all the product (even bad ones). I told them I would pass the money to them if I got any from the customer (whenever there is quality problem, I don't expect any commission, just want to have the problem solved). They threat to sue me overseas or here if I don't pay off. I told them I am only an agent. My customer is repsonsible for this.
Is there any legal advice anybody can provide or is there any law that I can use to "set me free" from this dispute?
Any advice and help is highly appreciated.
Thanks
KK
