it is something totally different. I believe workmans comp is paid out by a company other than your employer.

Your emplyer pays monthly to have workmans comp liability.

It is 2 different things. Workman's comp pays for any illness or injury that occurs to a person during work related activities. Sick leave if for any illness or injury that would be separate from workmans comp. Some companies will have you use all sick time, before long/short term disabilty benefits start.
When I was on workmans comp, I recieved less than 60% of my wages and I was responsible to pay for my health insurance/ dental insurance/ vision insurance/ and long/short term disability premiums at the rate that my employer paid them. So in the end I cleared less than $20 a month, it sucked.. Thank God my husband was working or we would have lost everything.

As long as you are out of work for workmans comp you will be out on sick leave, pending you have the days. If you dont have the days they will be taken out of your vacation time, then, when you finish those, you will be out on a license without pay. Workmans comp give you a crappy allowance and hopefully and the end of the treatment period you get a little bit of money due to how 'incapacitated' you are. I know, i went through it for 2 years, Got an initial check for $2,000 then another for $12,000 but that was because i appealed. I dont know what your case is but i hope you get better soon.

Workman's comp is not taken from your check. It is an insurance your employer pays to pay for any injuries that happen on the job. They should pay for all of your medical bills for the accident. You do not have to even pay a copay.

If you are out of work for more than a week, they are supposed to pay you a percentage of your wages, but it is only about 60% and it usually takes a lawyer to get that paid unless the injury is obvious. Back injuries are easy to fake so they almost always require a lawyer.

Totally different. Applies to injuries on the job but doesnt kick in until you have been off at least two weeks. Would cover your visit to the emergency room.
