Does anyone really have the desire to be successful anymore? or are people happy with just getting by?

Where is that drive and passion people use to have?

Maybe people are rearranging their priorities. What is "success"? Is it measured by money? Or by being happy with what you have and what you are? If someone prefers to spend more time with their family rather than working every possible hour to make more money, is that a bad thing? If a mom slows down her career to give her kids more of her attention, isn't that not just OK, but fine if that's what she wants to do?

I'm not knocking the people who work hard at a job and make lots of money. If that's your goal - hey, go for it. Whatever does it for you. But people have different goals, and that's OK. If a person has NO goals, well, maybe that's a problem.

Maybe the saying "he who dies with the most toys, wins" just isn't the way many people think.

Because there are so many problems in the world today, most people are just trying to get by from day to day. They don't want to selfishly think of only themselves, when there is so much loss of life. Really, with this world in the mess it is, being content takes alot of passion, and strength. Being with family, and doing more with your kids, is a great thing. This will give you greater happiness. Don't put down these people who have put self interest aside for the good of their family, and friends. These are the people who make the world a place we want to live in each hard day.

I think lots of people still have the desire to be successful and are willing to do what it takes. I see lots of people every day with tons of drive and passion for what they do and how they live. I think you're just travelling in the wrong circles.

I would think that the majority of people are just getting by, probably because they don't know anyother way of getting out of the grind. This is the way the gov. wants it. They don't want everyone to be a millionare because most know how to hold on to their money and not pay alot of taxes. Myself I would rather work for myself because the rewards are far greater and life is too short to wait a lifetime to get what I want. So fail or not I would rather take a chance in life and go for it. You only have one life so go for it.

A real morale killer for hardworking ppl is when lazy, dishonest ppl in the same office get promoted while the honest, hardworking ppl don't. After a while, the honest ppl just say to themselves "why bother?"
