I was recently told that there are new ten dollar bills with the year 2004 printed on them and they are supposed to be worth something. I was offered $20 bucks for every ten i had with the wrong date. I didn't sell any of them because I didn't know if this was true. Does anyone know?

I have a family. Two adults and two infants. We have not been trying very hard to live frugely and live on an average of $3,500 ($808/week) expenses each month. We own two cars, two houses (all fully paid for). We know we need to learn how to save properly and would like to know what everyone else lives on.

The way I worked this out is to subtract what is left from how much we earnt after tax at the end of the year. The difference is our expendiature per annum.

My husband and I were married in August and wanted to file separately so we could each have our own refunds. I've been told this is a bad idea and will give us less of a refund. Is this true?

I just started my own business and would like to know the average going rate for cleaning every 2 weeks fo an average home in central NJ. I was thinking of $20 an hour. Especially for first time cleanings when you know it will be a very big job, and then maybe a "set" price for when it becomes maintainence. Plus I would like to know what other cleaning ladies do as far as what exactly they clean every 2 weeks. Thanks.

The way I see it, any possible benefit to those making minimum wage would be offset by the increase in price of goods and services by businesses trying to offset the increased cost of labor.

Assuming I can motivate myself to be successful in studying a lot of science at my advanced age, I'm considering working towards an associates in 1. chemical technology, 2. nursing, or 3. medical labratory techinician. I say associates because I would like to get back to work as soon as possible, but I would probably advance my degree no matter which I went with. In the case of a medical labratory technician, the four year degree seems to be fairly hard core.
I've had people suggest nursing, but I think I would rather go for something with less direct contact. I've been teaching ESL for about 10 years, and I think I want a break from the intensive contact.
What I worry about is whether anyone would want to hire someone entering the other two fields in their early 40s. I've heard that a lot of people my age in fields such as computer programming don't get calls even though everyone insists there is a great need for programmers.
Does anyone have any insight for me?
