When you apply for a position online (online application), and they ask you in for an interview, does that mean that they have already done the background/credit check? I hope so. I'm worried about my credit.

I got in a quite noisy argument with my office mate. (old nagging hag who has worked there since before the dawn of time.) My boss isn't here today, but will hear about it tomorrow, I'm sure. How can I save face?

I was recently doing work for a client who is a photographer and who has done work for playboy and several fashion magazines. While I was round his house, discussing types of paint, he looked at me for a while and then said that I have a resemblance to Gisele, he actually said hat I have the same eyes and bone structure as her with a ‘’unique cuteness’’ lol and asked if I had every considered modelling, I had done some modelling when I was younger but that was six year ago just after I left school I hadn’t ever considered it since then because of my age now and just because I decided on a different career. I do know that he probably was just flirting but it got me thinking whether or not I could go back to it. So does anyone know what measurements they require (I think it’s 24 waist and 32 hips) and what else they loo for face wise and age?

I started using sharebuilder.com and noticed that my fees for purchasing two stocks were $8.00. I'm new to the market and I had only put $80 in to begin with. That would mean my stocks need to make $8.00 before I start getting any profit. I heard about firsttrade.com and BuyandHold.com also. I've seen a few threads but I'm wondering if anyone has had noticed smaller fees with one more than another.

Right now I am working for a company which i am in front of the computer most of the day. I sometimes dont even have anything to do. I figured that this would be a perfect oppurtunity to make some extra money online (while i am at work, since i have plenty of time on my hands). I know that there is alot of free sites out there that you can make money off of, but i have some strict criteria that I am looking for:
1. I do not want to have to give any personal information except for what they need to write my check.
2. Once i am on the free site, I do not want to take any surveys or things i have to try for free (a $1.00 or $2.00) by giving a credit card number. I want to strictly take the survey on the product, or questions, ect and NOT give any credit card information, just my answers.

I know alot of you out there do this, so your personal experience will help me fiqure out the right site(s).Do not answer this if you are employed by the site or own a site.

I keep seeing offers for free credit reports. But you always have to signup for a month of service that will continue in perpetuity unless you go to them and tell them to cancel. Is there a way you can get just ONE free copy of your credit report and have no commitment for anything else?

e.g.

How do you value a business that is very much sales / turnover focused and therefore relies on the people employed in it, rather than asset value?

I am looking into getting a grant for the down payment on a home and I was wondering if anyone has done this and how much they received, was it 20% of the purchase price? What factors are used to determine how much you will get? What can you tell me about this issue?

Workplace policy is to not eat at your desk but everybody does it. I was specifically sent an email that said "I am not allowed to eat at my desk. People were complaining."
However I see it and smell it everyday from others that are doing it. I was singled out by my manager who does not like me for not good reason. Mabye coz I am skinnier, or taller. Who knows.
We are not a union. Is this discrimination?

I am temping, the company I went to asked to hire me in full time. I've been here about a month. This job pays about 10,000 less a year than I normally earn but I took it because I was unemployed and something is better than nothing.

I had no intention of staying here because it's below my earning ability and skill ability. I decided to stay after they told me they'd hire me in and raise my pay. If I take this job they want to give me $2000 less a year than what I was asking and they want to move me up in the company.

The big problem is that I would be taking the job of the person who trained me and who I like best at the company-it's a small place, about 10 people. She would be getting a demotion, because they want to move her to my current position and give me her position.

The big problems I see is the pay, I would hate taking less, although my boss told me he sees me moving up rapidly through the company. I also feel funny about bouncing someone out of thier job.

My "dream job" crossed my path a few months ago. I applied, was asked to fill out a form, and had 2 interviews. After the 2nd interview they told me I would have a decision in mid-December, I also was informed that the 2nd person I interviewed with was going on vacation then too. I FINALLY heard back last Saturday (12/30) and was told that she forwarded her hiring recommendations to HR and wanted to make sure I was still interested. I guess I'm a little stressed it's all taken so long, but it sounds positive to me. She said if I didn't hear back by next monday or tuesday (1/8-1/9) to call her back...What does HR do with all of this at this point?!?

I heard that if you sell your house before 2 years, you have to pay lot of taxes. My question is if you buy another house right after you sell it, do you still have to pay lot of taxes? and how much is lot??? Would it be best to hold the house for 2 years and then sell it??

He has to start working part time now & I wonder if we will be able to collect the unemployment amount based on full time or will it be based on part time (even thought he worked full time for a year & a half
& will only be working part time for two months)

Exxon-Mobile isn't just helping to contaminate the atmosphere. It's trying to contaminate the public awareness of global warming as well.

A study by the Union of Concerned Scientists concluded that Exxon donated $15+ Million in 2006 to groups that, "don't speak for the company," but that are set up to spread their propaganda anyway. It's a little scheme called "idea laundering" or something that the PR industry calls "astroturfing". They put the money and propaganda into groups that will do their bidding. Then they say, "The groups do not speak for the company." The groups confirm it, of course.

This is a bit like Bill Clinton saying that he did not have sexual relations with, "that woman." It depends on how you define "sexual relations" or, in Exxon's case, "...speaking for." True, they didn't give the groups the money to be Exxon's spokespeople. Exxon just needed them to say that global warming could be part of the normal cycle of the earth. The difference is merely semantic.
