I have been told by one of my professors that a cover letter is not necessary. But if they ask for one give them one. What is the best way to write a cover letter? I do not exactly have great writing skills. Should I stay strictly business or should I put a little humor and arrogance in it?

I have an employee. He is aggressive, thinks independently, but he is not disciplined. His lack of discipline has cost me some money, but on the other hand saved me a lot of money also- he has saved me more than I lost, but his lack of discipline causes bad morale. He has a god-syndrome - he thinks he is the only one responsible for the business doing well, though in truth, it is really a team effort. Things that he saved me money on, well, now that I am aware of it, I really dont need him for it anymore. He wants to be pampered and wants to work outside the framework of processes that I set up

I have humored him in the begining, I needed his energy and aggressiveness to get myself out of the rut that I was in, then I tried bringing him in line, which worked for a while, but as the business started doing better, his head would reach for the clouds. The question is whether his lack of discipline will hurt me in the long run?

We are recent college grads (he already has his Masters), and I've owned a small business before. However, we're so young (in our early 20s) that we won't get a loan big enough to start off. Any tips for what we can do to improve our chances at a good start?

I was recently evicted from my apartment but I don't know if it will show under my name when I go apply for a new place. My friend told me that once it gets tied up in the court system it doesn't show on your credit report for a long time. I'm hoping to get a new place soon but I need to know whether or not to put my last landlord where I was evicted or if I should just put my address previous to that which is in a another city.

I'm in my early twenties, and looking to get myself ready for a comfortable retirement early with my company's 401k. Which of the following options should I put money into, and what percentages would you suggest?

Laudus Int'l MarketMasters (Int'l Large-Cap Growth)
Calamos Growth A (Mid-Cap Growth)
Victory Diversified Stock A (Large-Cap Blend)
Vanguard 500 (S&P 500 Index)
Sound Shore (Large-Cap Value)
FPA Crescent Portolio (Moderate Allocation/Balanced)
PIMCO Real Return D (Gov't Bonds)
Gartmore-Morely Stable Value Fund (Cash/Stable Value)

If you're not familiar with these specific funds, could you at least suggest what percentage of my contributions should go to each type of investment (Growth, Value, Index, etc.)?

If there is a net (after taxes) income of $3100/month (about $37,000 / year), and the family has no debt except a mortgage, can they survive on this income? The mortgage payment is about $670/ month and they live in the Southeastern United States.

Thanks for your opinion! If you can elaborate on why you think what you do, that would be helpful.

We felt we were overpaying on our taxes for years. Our neighbor has a very similar house and his taxes were substantially less. We grieved it several times using his house as a comp and were denied. On the county's website it showed us that our house's sq. footage was off by 300 sq. ft. The county said it was a clerical error and that it will be fixed for the future tax rolls but, for what we already paid, they can do nothing. Anything we can do? Thanx.
