Well your question is kind of open ended... What type of job are you talking about in particular? With a degree in history I doubt that there are many openings. The hottest job in the television industry is in marketing.
Another thing is that most of the programing on ALL television networks comes from other production houses/companies. You really need to watch the end credits to see what company produced the program. You can get in touch with them with demo material which could land you a job.
If you really want to be in front of the camera I would try to do some local stuff. You need a demo reel. Once you have a demo reel showing your talent, they will be able to see your talent.
If you are talking about being a historical consultant or something else, you would have to make a name for yourself in your field... You could also go online and find the network's contacts or other production company contacts and market yourself.
It's really hard getting into the industry, but it's not impossible

I would start by checking their web-sites & seeing if they have any hiring information available. While they do produce some shows, you should check and see if other production companies are involved as well. It may be possible to get a lead via their production partners.
What kind of job are you looking for specifically? You don't list any media, television or movie experience and you don't say if your published. What, exactly, are you trying to do? Why the Discovery Channel? Does your history degree have an emphasis area?
More details please!

first of all you have to get a good course in journalism/media from a reputed institute. Most Institutes are connected with media and they have their own media institute such as Zee, Aaaj Tak etc. and you can even go to their websites for more informations. Most of them have recruitment policy also.
