I am temping, the company I went to asked to hire me in full time. I've been here about a month. This job pays about 10,000 less a year than I normally earn but I took it because I was unemployed and something is better than nothing.

I had no intention of staying here because it's below my earning ability and skill ability. I decided to stay after they told me they'd hire me in and raise my pay. If I take this job they want to give me $2000 less a year than what I was asking and they want to move me up in the company.

The big problem is that I would be taking the job of the person who trained me and who I like best at the company-it's a small place, about 10 people. She would be getting a demotion, because they want to move her to my current position and give me her position.

The big problems I see is the pay, I would hate taking less, although my boss told me he sees me moving up rapidly through the company. I also feel funny about bouncing someone out of thier job.

What a position to be in!!! But there could be good and bad to this. You never know where this company might take you. It might be a good choice to stay with them even if the pay is lower because it might move you up the ladder of success. But at the same time you don't always know the true motive on what the company will do. Just because they may verbally say hey we will increase your pay and so on.....doesnt mean that you always will see this. Good luck to you and your decisions.

I don't think I would do it if I had another offer.

She might resent you even if she feels overwhelmed in her current position. Perhaps you could feel her out about how she feels of the job she's doing now. And why she feels that way. She might be happy to move to the position you're in now if she feels over her head in her current position.

I definitely would tell her before I accepted the job in an attempt to avoid resentment later.

If you have been offered a job with the pay you are used to by a larger company, take it. You may not like everyone there but there are jerks everywhere.

I would stay. Its not your fault they are demoting her. And if you have room to move up in the company, I am sure you will be making more money soon.
