I started using sharebuilder.com and noticed that my fees for purchasing two stocks were $8.00. I'm new to the market and I had only put $80 in to begin with. That would mean my stocks need to make $8.00 before I start getting any profit. I heard about firsttrade.com and BuyandHold.com also. I've seen a few threads but I'm wondering if anyone has had noticed smaller fees with one more than another.

It is only $4.00 a stock through Sharebuilder. Since I bought two stocks it was $8.00. To those who have mentioned
Scottrade at $7.00... That would be $14 for two stocks, correct?

munch its that way because you are not a "subscriber" if you subscribe you will pay x amount a month but get free trades to BUY and a small discount to sell (they start at near $20 and go as low as 12) in the LONG run it isn't worth it and i looked a few others before settling with Scottrade

Certainly, one of the ways a small investor can buy stocks is through an on line broker. In most cases an on line broker will be a much less expensive method of buying stocks than using a full service broker. But you will have to rely on your own best judgment in most cases although on line brokers do offer research tools to help you make your decisions. In any case if one makes ones own investment decisions rather than relying on another, one is usually better off.

I would cash out and transfer that money to "scott trade". I have had nothing but pleasant experiences with them for only $7 a buy or sell.
