One thing I can tell you from personal experience: there are ALWAYS job openings in nursing homes and hospitals. I'll bet, if you look, you could be back on a payroll within a week.

If there's no union then you're not working under a contract. Thus, your employment is "at will" meaning you're free to quit at any time and your employer is free to terminate you at any time. Assuming your employer didn't fire you because of your race, age (with certain restrictions), religion, etc. he's free to do so. I think you learned a lesson on how NOT to offer feedback.

unfortunately, most jobs these days are what they call, at will employment. That means that you could walk up to your boss and quit any day. Likewise, he could fire you any day.
He can fire you for any reason or even for no reason as long as it is not an illegal reason (discrimination based on sex, age, etc.).
