Do they have multiple savings accounts? Are there banks they use that manage the money for them? Do they sign their own checks? What EXACTLY is it do people with money do to manage, save, and accumulate their money ? Or are they just like lower income folks just with a lot of money? Is there a trend that all people with wealth use? example: do they all go to the same broker ? bank?

My son (8 years old) has a custodial account. This year his investment account made more than $1600 and triggers the kiddie tax to tax the rest of the income at parent's tax rate.

Is it possible to file my child's return as an individual and not claim him as a dependent on the parent's tax return. That way, the child's return can get the $5000 standard deduction (which will be way more than his income this year).

After 8 months of trying do get a business off of the ground, my husband has really put us in the hole. We cashed out all of our 401(k) and now have a debt of $30k. There is no more home equity to cash out and we haven't made a credit card payment since August.

My husband now works in the field he was in prior to his business but at a job he's overqualified for. He's been searching for a better job since May but nothing has worked out.

Credit Counselors say they can't help us until we have a balance budget. Bankruptcy Atty say they can't help us until we have a balance budget.

I've written to all the creditors explaining that we do want to pay off but we don't know when. It's all based on when my husband can get a better paying job. At this time we can pay our 1st and 2nd Mtg and truck payment.

He doesn't want to get rid of the truck because we use it so much. My car is virtually worthless. '99 with 80k on it.

I'm working a part time job, too.

What can we expect?

I am a student with about 3 years left of school before I start making money and I have some serious credit card debt! I owe about $12,000 to Visa and about $7,000 to AMEX. Most of that money has gone to tuition, books, & fees not covered by aid and loans.
I have been reading other post about this matter and am kind of confused. Should I contact the creditors before they go to a collection agency and try to work out some kind of deal (like litterally pennies on th dollar)? How long before they sell the account to collections? I want to call them tomorrow- I've been avoiding their calls like the plague! How do I clear this up? Can I?

I have no income but my parents offered to help as much as they can. If they take me to court what can happen (supposedly I already have a case number) since I have nothing and no income? I've heard some people say that when I call them I should say something like, "I'll pay you *** if you agree to take this off of my credit report." Can I really do that?

I have my degree in Elementary Education. I got my teaching license 2 years ago. Now I'm a special ed. aide and love my job. I'm going back to school part time to get my teaching license and Master's degree in special ed. I'm sure next year I can get some sort of teaching job either special ed or regular ed.

At this point I really just want to teach special education. At the same time I really want to stay home and raise my children when they are young. Currently my husband and I are trying to get pg.

The job as an aide that I have now I love and work with the kids, and the hours are nice and when I leave work I'm done. As a teacher I would have to take work home. If I get a teaching job I would make more money and have benefits. If I just stayed as an aide I would keep my teaching license for gen ed and sp.ed. and think about getting a teaching job when my youngest enters school. I would have to worry about not having much teaching experience then.

What should I do?

If you have any experience in the workforce, you know the reality. There's this catch 22 with the demand of experience from employers. The catch 22 is if you don't have experience, you can't get job. If you don't have job, you can't get experience.

However, there are some who land a job of their choice without experience. My way of looking at this rarity. Above all, they are gifted with easily likeable personality who are good at making friends and are articulate (perhaps by nature). They may have had gained some experience from non-paid work (volunteering). ** Volunteering to gain experience may be ok for young people, but its feasibility to reduced for people who are not so youung due to their need for money to survive. ** Last, maybe they're just good at lying or got lucky.

I'd like to know what you think or what your experience was like with this catch 22 experience thing.

If the government really wanted to help low and middle income earners, the tax free threshold should be raised and then indexed to the Consumeer Price Index.Something to look for in the next budget?
