My present boss thinks i'm a unprofessional jerk...at the same time a highly reputed company is hiring me at 100% hike... Now i'm confused who do i beleive ...or rather what should i beleive..that i'm smart intelligent funny guy capable of handling difficult situation and that my boss is a bone head or that i'm stupid unconvincing troll who can't keep my boss happy because i'm so rigid in my attitude

first, if your boss thinks you are an unprofessional jerk, then i would suggest finding a new boss. more importantly, when you begin to allow the perceptions of others shape your own self esteem (or cause you to question yourself so deeply) then you will begin to lose who you truly are. once that it lost it might be impossible to retrieve. be considerate of other peoples opinions, they can be valuable input, however do not ever let them define you!
