I've been working in an office for a litle over 90 days, and have found since the first week that the position entailed three times as much responsibility as was actually explained to me when I was interviewed. I am confident that I deserve a raise, and of atleat 30 percent.. (i've done the research and people working in my area with similiar responsibilities are getting that on a LOW average).. The problem is, I've never had to ask for a raise before and not sure the best (most successful way) to go about it.. Any employers or employees with helpful tips???

On the social security site, it says the COLA 2007 will increase 3.3%. Does this mean we are going to be paying an average of 3.3% more per paycheck? If I got a 3% raise for my annual review, does this mean they just raised my pay for the cost of living adjustment and it really won't make a difference?

I am going to go in and negotiate a raise soon and was hoping I could use this as an argument. My raise was supposed to be based on performance and I don't think they were fair in just giving 3% if our cost of living is going up by that much anyway.

If I am misunderstanding the COLA, please explain it to me.

I am am assistant to a dean of a business school. All the scheduling and rescheduling drives me nuts, and my work load continually grows. But- we are gettting new cubicals in a few months that are supposed to be nice. And the temporary office I'm in is really nice, but I'll only be here for 3 months during the remodel. I hated this job soooo much a month ago- and I think I like it better now because we're in a lull.
I was offered a new job as a receptionist of sorts making the same amount of money with less stressful responsibilities. But in this job I'll have to be at work at 8 instead of 8:15am. And this one has room for advancement.
Someone give me a push or some advice?

I sell winter clothes for children on eBay. Every parent makes sure their children have a winter coat for the cold season. My winter clothing sales stop in February once it starts to get warm. What is an item that parents buy for their children during the warm months? When it starts getting cold parents go "Oh oh, better get a coat for the kids". What do they buy in the spring? I am looking for items that cost about as much as a winter coat ($20 and up). I can not make money selling a bunch of shorts, t-shirts or swimming trunks! Thank you Yahoo! Answers!

He is saying that he had to replace the carpet in the entire apartment b/c of a burn hole in the living room. He says that he gave me new carpet before I moved in (he said he would, but never did). The burn hole was there when I moved in, and a rug covered it the entire time I was in the unit. The big problem is that I dont' have pictures before and after I moved in.

What are my options?

I have been to the ER 3 times in the past week and racked up about 12,000 in medical bills, with no insurance and no definitive answer as to what is wrong with me. If my boyfriend and I marry, is it at all possible that they will cover any retroactive period? I know it would vary with insurance companies, but I think he has Blue Cross or Blue Shield. I'm also going through the govt's red tape, but I don't expect too much help from them. Advice?

Okay, im a Computer Operator for a IT-department in a Data Center and my Supervisor just pist me off! Our department is having a christmas dinner tonight at a restaurant and i forgot about it and came in to work at my normal time and he emailed me why i didnt come in 1-hour earlier that way i can leave 1-hour earlier to meet them at the dinner. My response was if you had put it on the schedule to come in 1-hour early i would have remembered that we have a dinner and to come in early. And while laughing with his hands in my face he just kept saying side-tracking things that just confused me and pist me off and making me feel like i was just trying to get away with something, instead of just saying well "okay then" So i asked him well i will just stay and leave at my normal time and i will meet you guys there?, he said naw...thats okay im just giving you a hard time because i can! Now im all pist off, he ruined my morning and i told him F*ck it i wont go to this dinner. He said Fine!
