My wife and I are buying our first home. We are already pre-qualified for a loan through a broker. We found a house in a new development that we decided we wanted to buy.

I know in California a seller (in this case the developer) can not require you to take your loan through a lender of their choosing, but this developer is requiring we apply with their preferred lender.

We can always choose to go with our original lender, but is it legal for them to require us to apply with the other lender? It creates an additional inquiry in our credit, which can cause a drop in the score.

The original lender ran the credit, now this one will run it, then the original one will run it again just before releasing the money. That is 3 inquiries in a short time span. Can they require us to jeopardize our FICO scores that way?

1. Orchard Bank Platinum MC.... 0% intro until 9/2007... 12% thereafter. $39 annual fee. No other fees.

2. Anyone heard of Tribute MC? 29% APR.... $0 fees.

Both are "pre-approved" offers.... so which is better?

Has anyone heard of the above company....they sell cleaning and household items that contain a melaleuca oil base, so, supposively they are nontoxic. I am being approached by an neighbor about this company, wanting me to sell and promote these items. I am just wondering if anyone else has ever heard of them and if they are legitimate. I have done research online, but there are so many scams out there. PLEASE, SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY.

I am interested in buying a home. I have heard that foreclosed homes are sometimes sold below their market value. I have seen lists of foreclosed homes available on the internet. There is usually a fee just to see the list. I have also heard that a buyer is expected to pay all past due taxes on the property up front. What's the real deal, and is it worth the hassle?

For the last 3 months I have been looking for a job in the same feild I've been in for 10 yaers, and I can't seem to find anything. I have a son and a girlfriend how give me tons of support, but I can't stop feeling worthless. I know that I am doing everything possible, like going to interviews, filling out aps, and not being lazy but the harder I try the worse I feel.
I know as soon as I land a job I'll start to feel better, but I am really worried that I may not find a job.

Ex: if I want to hook up electricity or even something as small as getting a cell phone in my own name I have to pay this huge deposit..because of not having enough credit....so I wanted to get a credit card so I could put like $25 on it and paying it off each month...But I cant seem to get one...none of the credit card companies will accept my application. I want a credit card that has no annual fees and as low rates as possible for up to 12 months...can anyone help me out..or atleast suggest a card that will accept me and is a good card? Thanks for any help.

If your score is 815 for example and it states your score is 'fair', how do you know what the next 'cut off' is for a 'good' score, example 850 and above? Does anyone know what the cut off chart is, poor would be the next score, is that below 800, 750, 700??

I'm trying to help this couple get into a home and they did not file their taxes last year. They got paid cash and were separated and the husband did not file taxes, but has always filed prior. How long does it take to file a year late and what are the penalties. Is it still possiable to get a home loan? his credit score is 602 (not the best)?
