A family will be migrating here (LA County) from the Philippines and would need a temporary shelter until they can arrange an apartment or housing suitable or appropriate in the husband's work place.

Look for hotels that do rooms by the week, ideally with a kitchenette. There are plenty of decent ones in the LA Basin. (There are plenty of dumps as well, so shop around carefully. A respectable place will be happy to show you the rooms.)

If money isn't too much of an object, look for an Extended Stay Hotels, Candlewood Suites (run by Holiday Inn, quite nice and very reasonable) or Staybridge Suites.

Here in Florida, there are hotels that offer apartment style suites, called Extended Stay Suites- lots of time business men use them when they are relocating with their families, and are checking out different nearby neighborhoods. They are often furnished with everything, included dishes and linens. Look in the local yellow book under Extended Stay, or in the hotel section and see if you can find anything with these words.

Look up Craigslist for that area, or post a free advert requesting that type of accomodation on sites like that.
Alternatively, you can look around for B&Bs or budget furnished rentals in that area.
How about enquiring at the local tourism office?
Are there people in that region who rent rooms in their homes for a few days or weeks?
