Hi. Let me explain what my company does. It gives each employee an "evaluation" every "anniversary date" (the day of the year that they started working for the company) and they get a score. This score tells them what percentage of a raise they will get. Then, they tell the employee that the raise will "show up" on the next paycheck or two. Here's the problem. A lot of people don't get their raises in this period of time. The lag ranges from two months to a year! Once, a co-worker of mine complained, after he hadn't gotten his raise in 6 months. He went to see the floor manager, who told him not to worry, and then he proceeded to pick up someone else's evaluation from his desk and said, "Look! This person hasn't gotten their's in 8 months!" as if it was common practice and there was nothing wrong with it. My question is, is holding someone's raise when it's due legal? I mean, can they get in big trouble for it? And, who can I contact to get this matter resolved? Thanks!

You know how credit card companys send you many offers in the mail? Well, what makes an offer good? And what should you look for? Anything that might come back later to haunt you?

I have recently moved to a reasonably small town. I moved here with my Fiance for his job. However, there is no work in my field. The only thing here for me is retail and that is a long shot to say the least.

I have come up with an idea that I could help elderly and disabled individuals by doing things like their grocery shopping, running their errands, and even taking them to doctor's appt's etc. I would even be open to doing light house work or meal preparation.

I am not sure of the best way to get my name and idea out to people. I want to be taken seriously. I thought about the newspaper but, how likely is it that a person would contact a stranger through a newspaper? Please send me idea's on how I could make this work. Thanks

A bank lends a firm $1,000,000 for one year at 12 percent on a discounted basis and requires compensating balances of 10 percent of the face value of the loan. What is the effective annual interest rate associated with this loan?

I have a small farm---120 acres. It is in an area that is appreciating in land value. I will likely need at least a portion of it's value for my retirement. I have six children. Of these six, one son is very interested in agriculture. I want to be a partner with him on this farm, but I also want to be fair with my other children when it is time for me to, well die. I'm sure other types of businesses have had similar situations. I realize that I will need to use a lawyer to draw things up but I want to have somewhat of an idea of how I might go about this. Thank-you

Two days ago I was called in early to work because a co-work called and said she had pink eye. Tonight she came to work to pick up tips and her eyes were clear no redness at all and she had heavy eye liner and mascara on. I asked her if she had went to the Dr and she no that she got and over the counter med and that hopefully she would be able to work tomorrow. I feel like I have been taken advantage off as anyone that has had pink eye would, it wouldnt clear up like that in 2 days with out a perscription. So do I bring this to my managers attention? and if so how do I do that? This isnt the first time she has called in sick either.

Verbal Contracts and Real Estate Question. State: CA . Seems like Real estate is the exception to verbal contracts being valid. But what about a witnessed and very simple "We accept" ... no contract conditions, changes, additions. It seems like there is nothing that is unclear about it ... and it was a fair offer at a fair price. Just could not be executed on paper over a holiday weekend. Do I have a case for a "Lis Pendence" on the property for the party breaking it off. We have supporting emails indicating the acceptence was real (from the relo company involved as an intermediary).. They just got a better offer while we were in the middle of paperwork to complete and bailed on our offer to chase the better one.

Jones' construction of an 8-foot fence around his property will block his neighbor Jacobi's scenic view, though if it were only a 6 foot fence it would not. If Jacobi values his view at $1000 and Jones values the extra 2 feet of fence at $500, then a possible resolution is that

a.Jacobi makes a side payment to Jones of $750 not to build the fence so high.

b.Jacobi makes a side payment to Jones of less than $500 not to build the fence so high.

c.Jones makes a side payment of $750 to Jacobi to live with the fence.

d.Jones makes a side payment of over $1000 to Jacobi to live with the fence.
