I'm trying to decide on classes to take next semester, and my decision is based on what I want to do for the rest of my life. Right now I'm a medical receptionist. Not very fullfilling but paying the bills. I'm curious of what you people do for work, and what its like? There are so many people that get on here, so that would make a lot of interesting careers to hear about! Thanks

Had a verbal acceptance of a Real Estate counter offer we made last Friday but since this offer goes through a relocation service I was told that the paperwork would have to be done on Monday. However, they continued to have open houses over the weekend and got a better offer on Monday. Was I "in contract" on Friday when the seller verbally accepted? or am I out of luck because I did not have a signed acceptence that I would have had if the relocation company was not an intermediary and I was dealing directly with the seller? Seems like the way the relo contract paperwork reads the seller could just about back out any time until closing based on the fact that there is a clause that indicates that if the seller does not sell to the relocation company, the relocation company does not have to sell to you. So it seems like the seller can say "yes, I accept... but stall a long time based on 'paperwork stuff' to back out if they want to... like if they get a better offer.

Ok, my X is a real jerk! just won't stop his dirty tricks. My son lives w/ me. I claim my son on my taxes. It is written in black & white in the divorce decree that I claim him. Past 2 yrs. X tried claiming son, so that held up my tax return. In 2005 my son lived w/ his dad for 7 months. He claims he gets to claim him (a call from him 2nite). I already claimed him & got my returns. Now the IRS sent me a letter & wants more info. Just cuz my son lived w/ him for 7 months, does this mean he gets to claim him? When I filed, H & R Block said no!

I just graduated and this is my first "salary" based job. So bare with me.

When I got my pay check, I realized my salary is divided down into 13 months, and then divided again into 4 weeks (the later, I understand, I get paid on a weekly basis, but the 13 months instead of the 12 months system? I don't quite get it). Can someone explain in detail for me? Thanks :)

And when you get a signing bonus, do you usually get it within the first month or what (it's been two paychecks for me, and still no signing bonus)?

My fiance and I are getting married on December 8 and I didn't work for 2005 and don't work didn't work this year so how should he file this year? Is it joint? I received public assistance this year and my kids dad is not supporting them ( he owes alot in child support) and never have claimed them. Even if my fiance didn't live with us the year, I know they give us the whole year because we'll be married before December 30 but can he claim my kids when we file joint only with his income?

someone close to you died and you couldn't face the move on the day of the funeral (that was what was expected for me to do) and after the trauma..then came the problem that you couldn't afford to move to that area as it was going to be expensive with funeral expenses adding to the problem.. would you condemn me for pulling out, even though you found an alternative move and the other person could still have the same house... it meant a multi house exchange but all would get what they wanted.. and I would have gotten an easier to maintain house that was affordable.. what would you do.. condemn me or help me?..

I lost over a thousand pounds because I had to pay the removers and for the new carpets that i didn't have in the end.. the other person didn't lose anything.. no cost at all.

I own my home now. I'm anticipating relocating. This will happen very quickly and I fear facing two mortgages. Not sure my credit will bare two of them. Thoughts?

Oh and what exactly is HVAC? Any tips will be appreciated and everyone is invited to my house for a party when I move in!

I am trying to buy a condo from a Real Estate company and they are offering me $50 thousand cash back. Is this legal?
The condo is going for $700,000 and they will give me $50,000 back at the close of escrow
I understand that it is my $50,000 that they are giving me, but this sounds a little fishy.
Should I be concerned, and is this deal on the level?
Thank you for your time,
Geoff
