It's okay to talk to the landlord about it, but I think the best approach would be to actually speak to the tenants yourself first. You should just knock on their door & tell them hello, that you live downstairs & there is a lot of noise coming from their apartment, & that you don't want to be rude since you've never met, but would they mind keeping the noise level down? If you say it in a nice way & are approachable most people wouldn't get offended. If that doesn't work, definitely talk to the landlord.

I don't know what you've done so far, but first I would talk to them politely. Then I would be a bit more firm. If that doesn't work, call the Landlord and let him or her know that you will call the police if it doesn't stop. I actually told my Landlord that I was giving him my 30 day notice because I couldn't take it anymore. He told me that they would be evicted before letting me just leave.(I was a better tenent then they were) It worked for me! Goodluck!!

This happened to me, only they were downstairs. I talked to them a number of times and complained to the management office a number of times. Finally I was able to buy my own house and never looked back.

i understand this problem. I swear i thought the people above us were playing dance dance revolution 24 hours a day!
we talked to them, and they tried to be quieter. If not, talk to your landlord. They will definitely talk to them...that's pretty much the only solution. sorry, and good luck!

Knock on their door and tell them you're problem. if they're nice you can be nice. if they're mean then you get mean. As in the above. the sqeaky wheel gets the grease.

Call the police/sheriff AND your landlord EVERY SINGLE TIME.
Make sure to tell them this is an on-going problem and you want them to do something.
Worked for me. They got sick of my phone calls, the landlord didnt' renew their lease when it came due!
