They haven't offered you the job. Filling out an application is standard, it doesn't mean you got the job.

If they do offer it, decline and tell them the reasons you listed here. They may offer you a higher wage and better hours.

You don't owe them anything except the truth. You seem like a very well spoken individual and I think it would be fine to say that you are having second thoughts and prefer not to take this position due to lower than expected salary and unfavorable working hours. You don't need any excuses!! Good luck!!

I don't know exactly what job you have applied for, but if it is a waitressing job you might want to reconsider. I am a waitress I have been for 5 years now. I enjoy waitress short hours and good money to be mad. You make way more at waitressing than you do at a department store, grocery store, and any other place. You know you make up to 100.00 dollars a day if you are good. So you might want to reconsider. Also if you still say no this job is not for me, then that is what you tell the person who gave you the interview. You say it is not for me, and I would hate for you to hire me and then quit on you. So I am going tell you this now so you can find someone that is right for the job. Then no one is upset or makes you look bad. Well Good Luck

Honesty is the best policy.
Come clean. Tell it like it is. They will appreciate it. They may or may not do a counter-offer but that was not your intent anyway. You are not expecting the increased money, I guess.

Rather you reject it now than to do it later. It is messy for both parties.
