I am an RN currently on assignment, and would like to find a company who has better benefits/pay. I have been with MedStaff and American Mobile, and am not overly impressed with either one. I am looking for something on the east coast. Any suggestions?

Wife was in an auto accident. Our attorney negotiated a small settlement with the insurance company. IRS claims we owe tax on the settlement because our attorney reported the settlement amount as nonemplyoyee compensation paid to us. I thought insurance settlements were nontaxabel income. Need help or the proper publication in the tax code to cite when I respond to the IRS. Thanks

For low income families that work and file a tax return at the end of the year i know that there is a certain bracket that you fall into that determines how much you get back.It doesnt work like the more you make the more you get back but along the lines of "payed in more than most low income people but not enough to live properly" so these people get more money back at the end of the year.Does anyone know what this bracket is?

I am applying for a job as a live in housemaid. Getting this job would be great because it would provide a free place to live and I could attend school on the side. Is there certain etiquette that I should follow?

How exclusive really is the American Express Platinum Card? It costs $300 a year in annual fee and requires $50K-$60K in annual income to apply. Is it worth it? Any personal story to share?

PS: I am talking about the charge card, not the platinum credit card.

My parents can't help, but my Grandma can (financially) without it affecting her standard of living. I don't think I'll need much help, but if I don't get help I won't be able to afford any type of housing. Sometimes my Grandma is in a mood to help, other times she's not. Should I even ask? A friend suggested I should bring up the topic and try to get her to suggest that she help. I don't know if I want to manipulate like that.

My county in Ohio (Lake) was recently declared a national disaster zone. I own a condo up there and it's my primary residence. The damage was pretty bad. Water filled the entire basement and leveled off at about 2-3 feet high on the first floor. Well... due to this I just want to get out of this property. I was even trying to sell it before the flood happened. If I were to walk away from this condo and move into an apartment, not making any payments, what can I expect?? I have no flood insurance and am waiting to see how much FEMA is going to give for repairs. I have no assests and I pretty much live on a check to check basis. The way I look at it I'm F'd as it is, even if I repair the condo the area surrounding it is complete crap anyways and will most likely not be fixed up anytime soon. Also who knows how many other condo's aren't going to fix there own, and based on that I have to worry about mold. This seems like my only option any help would be appreciated!!!! Thanks!
