All these credit card companys send out checks that enables you to write them for the amounts allowed ...sometimes thousands of dollars...I get several every week in the mail...Seems like an awful lot of money at your finger tips....Has anyone ever took advanage of this knowing they cant pay it back and has anyone ever try to beat the system without paying it back

I'm a college student going through my first pregnancy and the bills seem overwhelming. I sorted out a personal payment plan for myself a little too late 2 of the 8 accounts are in collections. I've managed to widdle them down and should be done paying within the month. Will paying the accounts off give my credit a bit of a boost? (those 2 are the only ones one my credit report)

i was under heavy debt, six years back by gods grace ,could pay back more than 70%,have the genuine ability to earn 3000 rs. a day,which is enough to come out fully and survive!!! ,but needs a lot of mental stability, any help to get mentally stable ? i can predict stock market moves using live charts with 90% perfection ,to get mentle stability,need help,anybody please?????

We have a lease purchase on a manufacturing facility in a rural area. Our lease states we shall provide our own utilities. However, we are outside the city limits and unable to get a water meter. Currently we are running off the landlord's water meter (next door) and we pay the bill. The facility has always had water supplied this way, even before us. But since our relationship with the landlord has turned sour, he keeps turning our water off. Do we have any legal standing and/or rememdy to ensure access to water? (He is upset with/apparently blackmailing us for not meeting his demand to turn over property in our possession that may be involved in his bankruptcy suit - which he testified was in our possession. Since he did so, we don't wish to turn it over without knowing we won't be held responsible for it.) It's a messy situation with an unscrupulous character. Please help!

My wife plans to retire at 62. I checked with my tax man about how much money she is allowed to make. He said on the joint return. We are allowed to make $32,000. My question is if I make about $24,000. She makes about $10,000. on social security. How much is she allowed to make working before she has to pay the govt. taxes on her social security?

I disputed things on my credit and I am not sure if the credit place took the right steps.

They got back to me on the 43rd day. They also did not send me an updated credit report (which I thought I was suppose to get)
There is still an item on my report which is a duplicate of something else that is on there, what should I do about that?

I dont know what actions to take, I tried calling them and I was on hold for 1hour and then some cranky woman answered the phone who didnt want to hear anything I had to say

I just recieved notice in the mail about a credit card I had canceled over 10 years ago. It was a $500 credit card but they claim I now owe almost $4000. I looked on my credit report last month and that debt wasn't there. About a year ago it was on my credit report but when I refinanced my debt loan they said it had been taken off. When I checked my credit report last month it was still off. Now today I get a letter in the mail claiming I owe them money still. Can they put it back on my credit report after the statue of limitations has run out? In Missouri its 10 years for a credit card. I'm willing to pay them $500 for the origional credit card but I don't know where they have come up with this $4000. I'm slowly rebuilding my credit but if this goes on it I'm going to have to just give up and declare bankruptcy. I'm 29 so I'm still young enough to recover from it but don't want to file even though with this it puts my debt way over $10,000. (Capitol One was CC Company)

No joke, I read this while reading the news on my laptop this morning. This happened to a 21 year old female in London. According to her side of the story, she called in sick because she had a migraine. Here in the States, people call in quite often. Her boss said that he attempted to reach her several times but was unsuccessful. His last resort was to text msg her. He defended himself by saying, "Since this is a youth culture and oriented type of job, using text msg, in this case is acceptable." (Paraphrase.) My thoughts? This smells totally illegal! He should have waited until she came to work, pulled her aside in his office and the talked to her. It's called professional courtesy. If this happened in the United States I'm sure she'd have a case. What do you think?

Now we find that they gave us false socials, birthdates, etc.
Our dispossessary case will be heard on the 14th. Can we ask the judge for a copy of their socials, and drivers license so we can sue them for the over $4,000 they owe us in rent and damage?
