NO, if everyone else thinks like that then who would we export to? If we don't export, we won't have money to keep in circulation. A country should always specialize in what they do best, that's how a country makes money, while keeping the consumers satisfied (it's called comparative advantage).
That is also the only way the world can achieve balance and create/maintain jobs internationally. Besides, can you list any closed economies(autarky) in the past that have worked? Exactly....

Yes. Kidding, it is actually quite a problem, but it also has some benefits. Convincing everyone to buy American could damage our relationships with foreign nations, which means they would stop loaning us money. Then, our nation will collapse because of financial hardship, so technically, it's a good thing!!!
I like to think about this when I'm feeling guilty for buying something from a foreign nation :(

On the surface, a lot of folks would say yes. However, you need to consider what you are buying, who made it and where did the money go? So many companies doing business in the US any more that you can't really go by a coporate name. Some companies that appear foreign, are actually more US based than some other companies that look to be of US origin. And vice versa.

explain this! If foreigners stopped buying your goods, will that be good for your economy?

Who cares, how do I buy foreign foods? I love chicken kievs and Ribena and we don't have that here... I would say it does impact your local economy a little because you're buying stuff from somewhere else instead of from them... you are potential business and potential profit.

Well, economically speaking, your first concern should be your own personal picture [ big companies and govts don't really care too much abt you - do they? ] - So, if you save a few bucks, then I would go that way- - but most biz is multi-national now.
yes, it strengthens the community to have mom and pop businesses but they are no longer able to compete....
