I am applying for a job as a live in housemaid. Getting this job would be great because it would provide a free place to live and I could attend school on the side. Is there certain etiquette that I should follow?

I would consider the source. If it's for a married couple you certainly would want to be conservative however not so dressed up that they will think you are not willing to get your hands dirty so to speak. The etiquette you need to display is that of a professional. What they are likely (would like to see) in help that will also be residing inside of their home. Think of how you would feel if the roles were reversed.

Conservatively but not dowdily. ALWAYS dress for the job you want NEXT not the job you have now.
If they like you - they'll tell you what they'd like to see you in, or provide you with a uniform of sorts.
Good luck!!

You should look nice. No shorts/t-shirt. You don't need to wear a suit, that would be overkill. Nice slacks and shirt would be sufficent. Or a sundress if you are female.
