i recently purchased a tattoo beginner kit number 2 from newyorktattoo.com.. i bought it cuz i wanted to trach myself how to tattoo. but the thing is i dont know if i have the clipcord hooked up to the tattoo machine right. the way i have it set up i have to push on the foot pedal everytime i want the needle to move. am i doing something wrong? plese if you can give me some help try to add detail so i can do it right.

I got a tattoo on my left shoulder blade 2 years ago of a Playboy Bunny with the ear flopped over and my name under it. It's really cute but I can still feel the tattoo. There's no color or anything so the enitre tattoo is basically an outline and I can still feel it, kind of like braille. I know it's normal to be able to feel the outline of a tattoo right after you get it done because I have two (the other one was also done about two years ago and it's on the small of my back. Can't feel that one). But I'm starting to wonder if this one should be removed.

Ok, I have an older tattoo done completely in black about 3inches by 3inches. I want to have a cover up done but the design I am thinking about has some white in it. I dont want the old one to show thru anymore than it has to but I was wondering if white can even cover over black to start with. Any thoughts?

I am planning on getting my first tattoo next month. I am 18 so it's legal and I know they are premant. I'm not looking for ignorant people saying they are evil and what about 50 years later ...

The tattoo I want is the chinese symbol for Dragon on my left forearm but closer to my wrist. Where is a safe spot to get it on your arm? How close can you go to the wrist befor risking hitting a major vein? I'm very pale ... and I don't want to use bright colors, it will be small and probably in gray so that the black wont make my paler. Does anyone have suggestions about placement? Color? Any GOOD advice. I will get it either way but I want to do it safely. Oh, and I have metal allergies, really really badly ... I'm allergic to any metal besides 10k Gold, Sterling Silver, Surgical Steel, Titanium and Stainless Steel. Should I ask about possible ink allergies when I go to get it?

Why is it that when someone asks a question about tattoos (whether they hurt, whats a good tattoo idea, where should they get them, etc etc) theres always a bunch of people who'll answer JUST to tell them that tattoos are ugly and they'll look horrible in 40 years? If they hate tattoos so much...How come theyre answering questions, in the tattoo section?

Also, why do they think that we're so dumb that we dont know that theyre gonna be on our bodies for ever, and that we havent considered what theyre going to look like in 40 years, but we still decided that we wanted them, because we love them so much?

Why do people get such an attitude about tattoos? its our personal choice, we're not forcing anyone else to get them, so why does it bother them so much? If it makes us happy whats wrong with that? Just curious, what do you think?

Hi all...ok - tattoo cost is 700...was orig going to tip 88 (8 is a good luck # in chinese and artist is chinese so he'll know what that means) BUT here's the thing. I'm thinking of upping the tip amount...100 to the artist and 50 to the person that's been helping me appt wise, design wise and she's just really been avail if I've had any questions...ranging from scheduling of the tattoo to the fact that I'm still nursing and getting a tattoo. (which i dbl checked with my daughter's pedi, my doctor, the lactation center and the tattoo studio and it's ok to do)

Was going to give it in a Chinese Red Envelope (I'm married - so me giving red envelopes is ok)

I am not sure if the studio shares tips as a whole or if you take what you get from the customers....but 150 is 21.4% tip

Sound like a good plan?

I really like this tattoo studio....they've been VERY helpful and I'm so glad I went to them.

I am getting a pink rose tattoo in honor of my Grandmother. I don't know exactly where to put it. I want it to be somewhat hidden. (Not on my foot, arm, or shoulders.)

I was thinking on the inside of my hip, or on my lower back. I know they both probably hurt alot, but that's fine. I need some ideas on where to put it, and how I can possibly embellish it. I want it to be an open rose.

i also have very pale skin. i would like red(dont tell me people have allergic reactions.. i already knwo that but ink has improvedover the years) but i think it would look to bold on my skin color... i want a nice supple gently look im not into pink or violets.. i eas thinkign yellow or white? . not something bright and dramatic... what colors woudl you suggest for pale skin?
