the skin on your body exfoliates but only the very top layers. tattoo ink goes into the middle layers and is never sloughed away.
the skin on your hands and feet however, TOTALLY exfoliate every few months. so eventually the tattoo will fade / grow out.
no matter what color, what size, how deep. it will fade away with time.
ask any tattoo artist, the ones that do have tattoos on the palms of their hands, reapply them about every year or so. it's just what you have to do if you want to keep it. ( i have friends that are artists and this is what i've seen them all do.)
and because of that, most REPUTABLE PROFESSIONAL artists - won't even do them, unless you're a true fan.

I don't have one on the bottom of my foot, but I've read plenty of articles in tattoo magazines and such about people who do... and it's true. The tattoo is not going to look nice for very long, because of all of the friction from walking, wearing shoes, etc.
Generally, I don't think that's the best spot to put a tattoo.
You could try the top of your foot, maybe? I've heard of those fading slightly also... but it wouldn't be nearly as bad as the bottom of your foot.
Good luck :)

If you are referring to the sole of your foot, it will fade rapidly. Any place that the skin renews itself rapidly fades out rapidly.
I had a small spot tattood on the palm of my hand to see if I could tolerate the needle. Within a few months the little black spot was completly gone.
Also if you do a tat on the sole of you foot, it will hurt like hell for very little reward.

what do you mean bottom of the foot? i have one right on the top of my foot. people told me it would and fade and all this stuff, but i didnt really care because i really wanted it, and its been 6 months and its as dark as the night i got it. you just have to take extra care when theyre on your feet. your tattoo artist will tell you how to clean it. be careful though, some artists wont tattoo your feet

such a pointless choice. the type of skin that there is down there rarely holds ink because of the thickness and shedding. its almost impossible to get it deep enough to actually be "in" the skin. Also even if you did get it to stay you would have to have it redone every few months because it would constantly be wearing off.Your colours would also pretty much be limited to black simply because its going to stay in better. The same comes from your knuckles or palms. Some of it might stay but the rest will just fall out. The swelling and healing needs as well would make it almost impossible for you to walk for the day or two afterwards.
Also i cannot understnd why if youve had tattoos and know the pain you would want to walk on that for days!

i actually got a tattoo on my toe and within the next few months it faded away because of my socks and shoes rubbing on it, the tattoo shop usually tells you this before you get it done, basically if you want to waste money you can, you will sure have to get another one...just thought i'd let u know

i have a tat on my ankle if that what you mean by bottom of foot. it doesnt fade if you put spf 30 sunblock everyday. if you want to have a good tat you have to take care of it properly. uv rays are what make it fade so always apply sunblock

Waste of time and money.
It will fade very quickly and if you have ticklish feet, its advised you don't even try to get it.
