I got a tattoo on my left shoulder blade 2 years ago of a Playboy Bunny with the ear flopped over and my name under it. It's really cute but I can still feel the tattoo. There's no color or anything so the enitre tattoo is basically an outline and I can still feel it, kind of like braille. I know it's normal to be able to feel the outline of a tattoo right after you get it done because I have two (the other one was also done about two years ago and it's on the small of my back. Can't feel that one). But I'm starting to wonder if this one should be removed.

Speaking of irritating the skin, when I get out of the shower or out of a swimming pool it itches. When I scratch it, it burns (I know I shouldn't scratch it but I can't help it). How's that?

Its scarred and removing it wouldn't really do much. The ink would be faded and gone, but the skin would still bump up.

The artist just dug in a little too hard and too far, it happens, but it shouldn't.

As far as it raising and itching, the chemicals from the pool and from things you use in the shower might irritate the area, could even be the heat or the pelting of the water on it.

Yup it is scarred. I have 3 tats and only one scarred the others I can't even feel the outlines. You artist wasn't very good.

If you get it removed (lazared) you will still have a bit of a scar.

Guess you got a tattoo for the blind.

Hey there is couple of things that could of hap pend in this case. First if you feel the tattoo that could be a slight ink reaction that happens when your skin gets hot. Second the artist could have gotten to deep in your skin, but you can find this out by checking the line work. If the line looks fuzzy and faint then that could be the problem. feel free to ask me any questions I'm a tattoo Artist.

P.s depending on the sensitivity of the location where you got your tattoo, your body will act differently.

if it is raised then there is a scar there but as long as it looks okay there is no reason to have it removed. my first tattoo which was just a small outline has a scar on it. i have had it covered up but you can still feel it. i'm not worried about it.

It is scarred. As long as it doesn't hurt it should be fine. Your artist probably applied a little too much pressure is all.

When you can feel your tattoo, unless it is irritating your skin or causing actual problems, it is not anything to worry about. What happens is that if the tattooist is newer or something, they tend to dig the needles in harder, leaving a bumpy, "braille" feeling. There's nothing to worry about.

It just means that the artist dug in very deeply. My first tattoo is like that.
