what do you have on your back already? you definitely want to make sure that it will all flow. i got a tattoo on my back last year (my profile picture) and then decided i needed more so i am converting it into a full back piece. so that is the tattoo that i HAVE to have right now. it's a sea turtle... i'm still about 9 hours from being finished.

what I want is a skull. but not one of those typical pirate skulls. i want one that's slightly rounded along the edges... and instead of the regular somewhat circle hole eyes it has hearts... that are pink. it's more on the girly side but it's still awesome that it's a skull. i'm gonne get it on my lower back, left side (the love handle area) cause i have a large wound that's healing and it's gonne leave a nasty scar. gotta cover it up.
anyway, i was given advice a long time ago about tattoos, specifally (and only) for the women. before you get a tattoo decide where you're gonna get it. imagine yourself in a wedding gown (especially if you haven't been married yet). would you want this tattoo showing? do you really want that big butterfly on your back showing? what about that angle tattoo that's starting to fade on your shoulder?
i figure that the faerie on my hip won't show... the skull i'm gonna get isn't either... after i get married... OH, IT'S ON!! haha
but that's just my opinion

Its really hard to say. I have a lot of tattoo ideas right now, but they're all still being worked on and modified.
I'd probably get an old school type chest piece done with one of my favorite phrases in it (This body holding me reminds me of my own mortality)

No one HAS to get a tattoo.
And if you're getting tattoos just to "get them," then chances are you're going to hate them in 5 years anyway, so you might as well just go pick something out of a book at the tattoo shop.
You should put a little more thought into your tattoos. No one is making you rush to get them, and they don't exactly just wash off, ya know.

i can show them all visibly if i like and i can hide them easily if i want.
