i think it all depends on your pain tolerance but lots of people have arm tattoos. i personally don't but i do have tattoos on top of both of my feet and on my spine which are some of the most painful places to get tattoos... i'm a girl... 5 two and 110 lbs and i can take the pain. i'm sure you'll be fine.
on a scale of 1-10 all of my tattoos have been between a three and a seven. seven being on top of my foot and directly on top of my spine. any place that has bone with little or no muscle between is what hurts the most.

on your upper right arm? your right is going to be the same as your left and yes, tattoos hurt. the amount of pain just depends on your tolerance level. and in my experience, anything above the elbow isn't all that bad. anything below the elbow will make your eyes at least tear up a little bit. that was the only tattoo out of 7 that made my eyes water.
also, if you're worried about the pain, maybe you should rethink the whole thing and not get one.

When I got my arm band I was only 18 and trying to piss off my parents because they said I wouldn't have the nerve so I did it. It really didn't hurt as bad as I thought it was going to. It varies by each person's pain tolerance and thresh-hold so a good test would be to drag a clean needle across where you want the tatoo and if you can handle it then get the tatoo. Be aware that the inside of your arm hurts worse than the tougher outside although it does go numb after awhile. I have been told the least painful spot is on the back of the neck, my girlfriend fell asleep when getting hers there.

I have a large tattoo of Eeyore. It didn't hurt at all. maybe a 2or3 on a scale of 1-10. And yes, that is the least painful place to get a tat.

I've heard it does hurt a little. The best place to get a tattoo is a place with some fat because anything over the bone hurts.

I have 10 tats. One of which is on my upper arm. It was one of the least painful tats i have gotten so far. Your arms and legs don't seem to be as sensitive as other areas unless you go on the under side of your arms, then it gets just alittle uncomfortable. You won't experience much pain at all on your upper arm. Get one on your butt and then you'll be feeling some pain. Believe me.

they all hurt dear. You're getting stabbed 100x a minute, repeatedly, for sometimes hours. Yeah thats gonna hurt. In fatty areas (like your arms) it'll hurt less, but youre still gonna feel it. But dont let the pain factor stop you. Once youre done, you never have to go through that again (atleast for that tattoo) and you have it for the rest of your life. I think that outweighs the pain.

I have both upper arms done. It probably is the least painful place to get them. Think about everywhere else you can get them (which is about everywhere), and you can imagine much more painful areas.

As opposed to what... your upper left arm?
Don't decide where you're going to put your tattoo based on where it hurts the least. That's just stupid.
The pain is only temporary.
