in my time of working in a tattoo shop and eventually becoming a tattoo artist, i have found that there are certain types of tattoo people.
there are the people who are hardcore into tattoos and get them to represent their love for art and tattoos and to symbolize certain time periods in their life and to memorialize events, etc...these people are usually well educated about the art of tattooing. they know about the process, they know how to take care of a tattoo, they know how much work goes into it, things like that.
and then there are the people who come into the shop who have 60 bucks to blow and want to get whatever they can get on their body for that amount of money, they don't even care what it is. most people get their name in cursive because it's the cheapest thing (usually) they can get. these people get tattoos based on price, and sometimes based on how much it'll hurt in a certain area. they don't take care of their tattoos and they know nothing about the art.
i hope you're not the latter of the two that i mentioned. people who get their names tattooed on them come off as someone who has put no thought into a tattoo and just wants one to get one. i'm sure you have put thought into what you want, but have you really, truly and thoroughly examined why you want this tattoo? is it just because you can't think of anything else?
there are so many girls who come into the shop i work at, holding their gucci or prada bag, got their hair and nails did, wearing coach shoes...whatever. you know the girl. anyway, they want the cute little wrist tattoo as an accessory which is why it's usually something meaningless like their name, because they don't care what it is, as long as it's pretty and people will see it. but god forbid it costs more than what they want to pay, because spending 200 dollars on getting your hair done that only lasts a month is wiser then spending around that or maybe even less for something that will be on your body forever?
i don't know you, and i try not to judge people, but PLEASE don't be one of these girls. i love being a tattoo artist but they take the fun out of it sometimes. to me it shows a lack of respect, you know? tattoos are art, they are not accessories, there needs to be a level of respect there.
if you are going to get your name tattooed on you, that's fine, just make sure you can live with it. and be prepared to answer a lot of people asking you why you have it. and don't do it because all your friends have it. if that's the case, get sweaters with ya'lls names on it.
just remember that i am looking out for your best interest. hopefully you will get something good out of my endless ramblings and it will really make you think twice. also, the wrist doesn't hurt, atleast i don't think so. but all those girls i mentioned before, they all cried.

i have tattoos and i say yay for you for deciding that you want to venture into the tattoo world. HOWEVER i don't think it wise to get the tattoo that you plan on getting for the following reasons so hear me out:
1.most people who get their name tattooed on them get it because they really haven't ventured into thinking of anything else more original (my first tattoo was my name in korean) it is something that will probably be a regrettable tattoo later. (mine is now covered up with something else)
2. the wrist is a very out there place to be tattooed. everybody will see it all of the time. especially if it is on the top of your wrist. for your first tattoo you really don't know if you will love it. many people get a tattoo only to realize that they really aren't tattoo people. i have yet to venture onto my arms in any way. this past year i got large tattoos on my feet and that has been an experience. it's odd to see how many people have a reaction to tattoos that are visible on a female.
the pain will probably not be too bad because the tattoo is so small. the fact is that for the first 10 minutes or so the pain is minimal and my first tattoo only took 15 minutes.
good luck with whatever you decide. if you have any questions feel free to ask.

I got a black and gray skull on the inside of my wrist this past Saturday. It wasn't that bad ( a 3 on a scale of 1 - 10)
Edit: A lower back tattoo does not imply that you are easy. Tramp stamp in an unfortunate nickname given to the tat. I try not to say bad things about a person's tats. They are a big decision made by the collector.

Don't jump into the decision. Remember, these things are PERMANENT, and it costs a lot of money and quite a bit of pain to get them removed. I got the Chinese symbol for "laughter" tattooed onto my back between my shoulder blades, and some days I regret it. If you like art so much, consider designing your own design. I feel now like I conformed to what everyone else does with tattoos. Luckily I'm going to Ireland in March, so I have a chance to get something completely unique to remind myself of the great times I'm going to be spending with my friends.

Well....my 1st tattoo was on my wrist, inner part, it was an infinity symbol. it didn't hurt, only felt like a small shot when it hit the tendon, but that was it, nothing else, and then on the other wrist i got two small lips, and they didn't hurt either. Good luck!!!

I have a tattoo on the inside of the wrist. It did not hurt me at all. It all depends on how you handle pain.

i want one on my wrist as well, im sure it will hurt, but i would NEVER get my own name on me...when people do that its like they have run out of creative ideas and just go with the firts thing that comes into mind....are you going to forget your name or something? get something meaningful, ecspecially there where EVERYONE can see it.

i've always wanted one but never got the nerve. i think they're geat but do you really want your name on your wrist? its kind of like wearing a name tag. why don't you see what they offer at the tatoo place. maybe you'll find something you like.

I don't understand the need to get your own name tattoed on you. Seems vain and weird to me.
It won't be as bad as you are probably expecting it to be. Just relax and you'll be fine
