i recently purchased a tattoo beginner kit number 2 from newyorktattoo.com.. i bought it cuz i wanted to trach myself how to tattoo. but the thing is i dont know if i have the clipcord hooked up to the tattoo machine right. the way i have it set up i have to push on the foot pedal everytime i want the needle to move. am i doing something wrong? plese if you can give me some help try to add detail so i can do it right.

what im trying ot say is everytime i want the needle to poke out i have to push the foot pedal. i cant just hold it down and have it rapidly poking the needle out. is there a way i can make it do that?

I am no artist, but an avid collector. I believe that the foot pedal is THE way you get the machine to work. Otherwise it would be running the whole time it was hooked up.

Edit: Again, I think your are set up properly. Go to the meat market, buy some pigs feet, thaw them out, And go to town on them. If you are set up right, you should know almost immediately.

It sounds that you have everything hooked up correctly because, as a person who has plenty of tattoos and is related to a tattoo artist, I know for a fact that the foot pedal is used to power your machine.

If you're gonna teach yourself, here's a tip, go to a shop, listen to the way the machine sound. You can't just buy a kit and start tattoing, all machines have to be tweaked. and YES you need the footpedal to work the machine, your foot is what powers your machine
