I'm moving to California to go to school next fall, and I want to be an actress and get an agent. So far I'd only been looking at schools that were in LA or under 30 minutes away. But do you actually have to be in the Los Angeles area to act, or can you be a few hours away? I didn't know if your agent would require you to live very close to be able to get to auditions and stuff. I'm asking cuz I would be able to look at alot more schools this way. Does anyone know?

In health class today, I was told to find a character (from a book, TV show, etc) and tell why they were depressed. I answered all the questions fine, and I know that Hamlet confides in Horatio throughout the whole book, but who else provides support? I thought about Ophelia, because she is Hamlet's lover, but she goes crazy about halfway through the play. I then thought about Rosencrantz and Guildenstein, but then I read that they were both the kings spies. What is you opinion?

My son's drama teacher asked each student to bring three physicalities to class next week. It has something to do with behavior, but I'm not quite certain exactly what is meant by "bring three physicalities".

Can anyone interpret this? Provide an example?

This might be a dumb question, but how do you pronounce Aida? I am singing Johnny One Note and it says that he got in Aida. I know that it is an opera, I am just not sure how to pronounce it. Is the first "a" like the a in "day" and the "i" like the like "ee" in "week"? I am then pronouncing "da" like "duh" Alright, thanks for any help!

I mean, like a TV show or something, not a play where only people from your school or town come, but a show everyone watches, or where you get noticed all over your country?

There are only three girls in Twelfth Night! (viola, olivia, maria) I really really really want to be Olivia. I am good at acting and I really love Shakespeare. What should I do to help me get this part?
(PS- The monologue I'm doing is Lady MacBeth's "out damn spot" scene because it's difficult and I already have it memorized. I figure if I do well with a difficult scene, it proves my skills.)

I'm an actress but things have been in a standstill lately. I want to make a living doing what I love. Nothing wrong with that. AFTRA is the only union you can just pay to join no credits needed. Should I do it? I want to do principal roles but I'll do background too of course till then. Will it help jump start my career. I heard some casting directers dont take that union seriously b/c anyone can join is that true? Actors help!

Alright, my fiance wants to rent out a theatre/playhouse to perform the first run of a new musical comedy he has written. He wants to produce the whole thing basically as he has written the script, music etc. He found a place that he can rent for a decent rate. We will make all the sets ourselves and he hopes to produce cds he can sell, print broshures, etc.
This is a for a first run new musical never produced before.

Any playwrights / producers out there that can give pointers on things we should look out for? Things we may be not thinking about? Advice?

has any1 got any tips on auditioning for mamma mia?

i am terrible at auditions, i graduated in musical theatre with merits (used to get main parts) and at performers college didnt get nervous at all thats cos i knew the tutors.

as soon as i walk in the room i feel like ive ruined it, apart from the fact that there are 600 other ppl, i think im useless compared 2 them.

i try to look confident but the nerves can affect your voice, and the piano guy puts me off cos i am scared about messing up the timing, as i dont know what to expect with him playing the piano. (even though i know the tune and everything)

is there anything i can do to make me stand out, to be different?

please help??? i am desperate for a break

The Little Mermaid is coming to Broadway November 3, but it doesn't open til December 6. I don't get this. Will the Broadway cast that includes Sierra Boggess, Tituss Burgess, Norm Lewis, Eric Palmer and Sherie Rene Scott start on November 3, or do we have to wait? Am I just having a blonde moment?! Someone help!
