This might be a dumb question, but how do you pronounce Aida? I am singing Johnny One Note and it says that he got in Aida. I know that it is an opera, I am just not sure how to pronounce it. Is the first "a" like the a in "day" and the "i" like the like "ee" in "week"? I am then pronouncing "da" like "duh" Alright, thanks for any help!

Good answers from the girls...I'm an American living in Italy and trying my best to learn this great language, so maybe I can add something to what they have already told you.......actually the Italian language and names are fairly easy to pronounce; IF you remember to enunciate each vowel.....and the vowels are pronounced a little differently than in the U.S.A....a,e,i,o,u...are the same letters, but they are pronounced as follows: a="ah"......e="ay" as in "day"........i="ee".....o="oh".......u="oo"........so, strictly speaking, AIDA would be pronounced as follows: "ah-ee-dah"..............BUT, Italian is a very regional language...meaning common names are sometimes pronounced a little differently in different areas (North, South etc)....so..depending where Giuseppe Verdi was born..or where Aida took place.....the pronunciation MIGHT be a little different than the strict grammatical pronunciation.......
